Student Finance for University - Changed Uni after getting results, what to do?

I have applied for Student Finance back in June 2007.

In the form I wrote that I would be going to Westminster as my firm choice, however my results wasn't able to get me to there.

Now I have a place in Uni of Greenwich, and today I have recieved a letter about Student Finance, however it says Uni of Westminster, and I should take it to enrollment day.

How do I contact Student Finance to tell them that I have changed Uni?

Student Finance for University - Changed Uni after getting results, what to do?
Phone Student Finance company, explain this to them, they will then tell you if they need to send out another letter etc. Trust me they are used to this type of thing, so it won't be a hassle for them to deal with. By doing this you are then keeping yourself right, and it can't fall back on you.
Reply:The amount of your financial aid/ loan wont change.

If you went through clearing then student finance will be aware of the situation although it doesn't really make much of a difference even if your LEA have agreed to pay your fees. If that has been agreed then which ever uni accept and enrol you will request them.

Call your LEA or have a look on www.studentfinancedirect.com

have fun at uni xxx

Student Loans?

I'm currently in grade 12, and I'm in the process of applying to universities and for student loans.

On the OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) website, they only have applications for 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.

For the 2007-2008 application, I would fill out the form that indicates I'm in a postsecondary program that STARTS any time between August 1, 2007, and July 31, 2008.

There is no application on the OSAP website for the 2008-2009 school year, which is when I'll be in university.

So, when do I apply for OSAP? When I'm already IN university? I thought that you apply for student loans in grade 12, right before you start your postsecondary education.

Student Loans?
You will need to, by the summer before you go to school. It sounds like they are just later getting their forms up. Perhaps you can find a paper copy to send in.
Reply:Briefly: Try to Avoid student loans if at all possible.

Go for grants and scholarships.

Student loan?

Ok i have completed the fasfa and everything is paid for, but i need a student loan for some personal needs and i dont have a co-signer at all and i am unemployed at the moment and i talked 2 my financial aide guy and he said i can only get 3500 a year in student loans... Is there a place out there where i can get a student loan with out a co-signer?!?!?

Student loan?
The $3500 you are being offered sounds like it is part of the Stafford federal loan program. This program requires no cosigner and no credit check.

First, you need to ask yourself if you need more than $3500. If no, go with this program since all payments are deferred until after you graduate or leave school. If you do need more, go ahead and do the $3500 since the interest rate and fees will be less than that of a private loan, and then look into a private loan for the balance.

All private student loan lenders require a credit check. If you don't meet their minimum guidelines to allow you to apply on your own then you will be required to provide a credit worthy cosigner. There is no one place where you can go to see what student loan lender will allow you to apply without a cosigner. I suggest doing a search for student loan lenders and then just start going to the sites. Many offer a preapproval process where you can submit your information and they will do a quick check to see if a cosigner is required. If it is, move on to the next one and see what happens with it. You'll just need to do this until you find one that is willing to work only with you and one that you want to work with. Things to remember...if you apply on your own your interest rate and fees could be higher than if you apply with a cosigner. Also, read the fine print and make sure what you think you are getting is what you are actually getting. Finally, be careful who you work with. There have been a number of new companies pop up over night trying to make a fast buck. Remember...if it sounds to good to be true it probably is...
Reply:I filled out all of that Fasa stuff and apparently I am too rich to get any loans or grants...I work 40 hrs a week and we scrap by...so I am probably not going to be able to finish my RN degree...I wish I could tell you what to do.
Reply:If you completed the FAFSA and can get a student loan, you definitely want to get a Federal Perkins Loan. You don't need a cosigner, it has a low interest rate, and the government will help you pay it back as long as you stay enrolled in school. Find out more here:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

The next loan you can get without a cosigner is a Subsidized Stafford Loan.It offers many of the same benefits as the Perkins Loan. More here:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

You really shouldn't try to get a private loan because:

a) You will need a cosigner with good credit

b) They have high interest rates

If you want to try for free money (which is always good), look at these sites for grants and scholarships:

http://www.fedmoney.org/

http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_ss...

http://www.freegovmoney.net/

Good luck!
Reply:If you maxed out your Stafford money then the only possible option for more is a private student loan. Unfortunately, these are credit based and so with no job or credit, you will need a co-signer. I would suggest trying to ask another family member or close family friend to co-sign for the extra and just make sure that you take only what you need and pay that loan off first as private student loans have higher interest rates.

The best thing to do is compare the different private lenders out there, which can be done at http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestude...

Most of the rates are very similar but do a little research and pick one that you think is best. I would suggest Think Financial. The application process is very quick and easy, and the check is sent directly to you so you can use the money for whatever you want. The limits are much higher with private student loans, up to $40,000 per year. You can find out more information about a Think loan at http://www.thinkfinancial.com . Good Luck.
Reply:You could end up taking a loan from your current bank. Some banks do not need a co-signer on the loan.

Student loans for part-time grad student?

I'm a new grad student and my program only offers 2 classes each of the three semesters, fall, spring, and summer. Being a half-time student taking 6 hours instead of the normal full-time 9 hours will I still be able to get the full $20,500 stafford loan?

I know going half-time reduces your loan amounts for undergrad, but I'm not sure if grad school follows the same rules.

Thanks!

Student loans for part-time grad student?
There are two sources for student loans -- the federal government and private lenders. In order to obtain most federal student loans, you will first need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In most%26lt;!--instances the FAFSA is required for all federal financial aid including federal student loans. Deferment options are available while you are still attending school at least half-time. There are four main federal loan programs.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student...

Federal loan consolidation is for students who are in repayment status or parents who wish to extend the repayment period on their current PLUS and obtain a fixed interest rate for the life of the loan--%26gt;you can combine all of your eligible federal student loans into one loan with a Federal Consolidation Loan. Consolidating also locks the interest rate you pay on your loan.
Reply:Yes, it will reduce the amount you can borrow. NOTE: Half of 9 hours is not 6. Half of 9 is 4.5

Student Newspaper HELP!!! Writing an article for a student that signed with a college?

HELP! I am writing an article in the student newspaper about a student that recently signed with a college for playing soccer. I have never written an article like this. I need a few tips and pointers, and possibly an example of such an article. Thank you!

It's pretty simple. Mention who signed with the school, his position, a few facts about his high school career, and some stats if you got them. Quotes are always nice too.

Student Loans?

I am curently a sophomore in college, going to be a junior in fall, and I have been debating on whether or not I should stay on campus so I can focus more on my graduate studies. My scholarship covers tuition .... but not housing, so I'd have to take out a student loan in order to do so. Has anyone who has taken out a student loan, had problems paying it after college? Are the payments reasonable? A few of my older coworkers and professors have told me that paying off student loans is a nightmare....is this neccessarily true?

Student Loans?
Things to remember when borrowing.

Never ever ever ever take out private student loan. Federal loans only.

Never borrow your first two years of under grad.

Never borrow more than you would expect to earn your first year after graduating with your degree. Example: graduating with a 180K in student loan debt is okay if you are now a plastic surgeon, bad if you are now a kinder-garden teacher.

Consolidation is not nec a good thing. If your loans are all federal, consolidation will actually cost you more in the long run. Folks complain about more than one payment, but I had 8 or 9 loans when I graduated and I only made one payment. The bank automatically distributed my payment appropriately to the different loans. Plus consolidating erases all the federal benefits of taking out federal loans in the first place, like mandatory deferment and forgiveness programs.

good rule of thumb when borrowing is roughly 10%. Borrow 5K and your payments will be 50 dollars a month. Borrow 10,000 and your payments will be 100 dollars a month.

Good luck.

If this is true I am announcing at the next accounting society meeting."lets all go to FL and start at 70k a year" I know a few 4.0s who have interned with delloite who would love to steal ur mom's job! Report It

Reply:I have taken out student loans for college and I'm currently paying them back now. I had them all consolidated so I would only have one monthly payment. The payments are very reasonable.

You can read about student loans here:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

The best type of loan to get is a federal perkins loan:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

And about student loan consolidation here:

Reply:It would depend on what you are studying so you can have a good job when you graduate.

I have to take out student loans for living expenses as well, but I'm not too worried based on my career field.

Hopefully you chose a field that offers a decent salary.
Reply:Come on your an accounting major! have u even taken an intro accounting class yet? Don't take out over 20k in loans that is all I can say. Here is some logic for u maybe u haven't taken that yet either.

1. If you want to live comfortably then y ou need lots of disposable income

2. if u want to have lots of disposable income then u can't have a huge student loan repayment and a low salary

3. Either u get a high salary or a low student loan if u want to live comfortably

Ur an accounting major! Most accounting majors even at big 4 firms start at around 40k a year

Assuming u take home around 2500 of that a month after taxes here r ur living circumstances

$40,000/yr = $3333.33/mo before taxes.

Assuptions:

State income tax is 6%

401K contribution is zero.

$2483/mo after tax income

120 Groceries ($4/day)

(You can cut this in half, if you switch from balony sandwiches to beans %26amp; rice)

$0 Restaurants.

(You won't be seeing the inside of a restaurant unless you have a second job there. McDonalds's and Taco Bell count as restaurants here, especially if one combo meal blows the whole day's food budget.)

HOUSING:

$500 Rent (the cheapest apartment you can suffer though)

$9 Renter's Insurance (Mine is $100/yr, yours may be different. But I know it's coming due in 11 months, so in the budget it goes.)

UTILITIES:

$90 Electric bill

$40 Gas bill

$30 Water bill

$100 Cable/Internet/Phone (bundled) bill

$55 Cell Phone

TRANSPORTATION:

$-0- Car Payment (if you have one, you need to sell the car like yesterday.)

$100 Car replacement (a $6000 car once every five years)

$120 Gasoline (half a tank a week)

$11 oil change ($29.99 + tax once per 3 months)

$90 Car repairs (something's going to break. Be ready.)

$60 Insurance ($360 / 6 months)

$6 Annual registration

OTHER ESSENTIALS:

$250 Savings

$20 Clothes

$20 Toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc.)

$10 Hair cut ($19.99, once per 2-3 months)

$10 Doctor's visits

if u end up over 50k in debt u will live very cheaply and uncomfortable for 10 years.

;) I am an accounting major 2 I have the luxury of having a huge college and trust fund though so i don't need to worry about loans. I did this post pretty fast so u might want to do the calculations urself but most of them I am sure r correct off the top of my head!

Student have sex with teacher?

why do most people think its bad for a student to have a [serious] relationship with a teacher.

ive herd dat love has no age.

could it be posible that a underage student %26amp; a teacher actually fall in love?

%26amp; y is it bad if a student has sex with a teacher.

i mean both of them know what they are doing %26amp; know the risks it involves. dont yhu think its their problem only?

Student have sex with teacher?
Personaly I couldn't give a ****. Whatever floats your boat man. He could easily lose his job though and you could be severely embarassed. He would also lose his teaching liscense. I'd wait till I was graduated to pursue it again. I think people don't give youth enouph credit for intelligence though. We know what we're doing so the government can just shut the **** up and stay the **** out of our personal live. This is supposed to be a free country aftern all.

P.S. You didn't actually say your gender but either way i think it's okay if you know the consequences.
Reply:depends on the age...if we are talking high school....dont be stupid...college would be a different matter. the teacher doesnt really love you no matter what they say, they are lying. it's just lust on his part and no father figure on the girls part.
Reply:Whenever a child is under 18 years old, it is the worlds problem. Where do you go to school and who's this teacher? It's against the law. You need to grow up properly before you make any decisions about love. It's illegal because kids under 18 aren't FULLY mature. So, even if you think you ARE, YOU ARE NOT!!!!!
Reply:Its only rape if you are an extreme minor and if someone consents to having sex and they are underage its not really rape(rape doesn't imply consent) but it is still sexual misconduct. But are ****** up laws will tag rappiest to someone that is 18 and his, or her partner is 17, so by law yes it is rape, morally there is nothing wrong with it, but it is dangerous due to the real **** heads in this world. Someone can really fall in love with someone that is underage. I know this old guy that was 19 yr. when he married his 16. wife. and he is now 72yr and has 13 children and he is still happily married so it is possible just not likely. Also the reason why its bad for her cerier is for one reason only, and this goes for "all jobs" it makes others uncomfortable, and in this great world we like in people can ruen someone elses life because they aren't comfortable with it. At jobs you can be fire for flurting non-sexualy, because someone took it the wrong way and were not comfortable with it. so they get you fired.

SO BASICALLY DON'T TO IT BECAUSE ITS NOT WORTH IT.
Reply:It's illegal for a student to have sex with a teacher.

I don't know if there are any rules if both are over 18.

I believe love "has no age" too, but just above the schooling age.

I think the teacher knows more than the student, but I can't go into depth on that.
Reply:thats just wrong
Reply:1st as you said age ew think a 40yrd. and like 13yrd. doing it.

its just gross you see an adult an a kid have sex see if that grosses you out.they maybe childmelesers there was one at my old school.
Reply:for one the teacher is an adult and can go to jail for statutory rape ... second he or she could loose their job ... third ...what does a teacher really see in a student .. i mean its just the sex ... no love involved in most cases ... i think the public sees it as the teacher using the student .. it could be forbidden fruit is hard to pass up ..what the student needs to realize that they aren't the only student he is probably messing with ... its just bad judgment for a teacher and student to have sex on both parts
Reply:It's called RAPE. Regardless to whether the student "knows" what they are doing, if they are underage, it's still rape. It's highly unprofessional, as well. Even if the student is over 18, it could still cause the teacher to lose their job. And love does have an age-by legal means. Of course they could fall in love, but it is wrong.
Reply:Um for one, its totally screws up the boundaries that a child has with authority. A large majority of sex offenders were also victims themselves when younger. It perpetuates the problem.

People think that if a older female teacher has sex with a younger is OK or not as bad as if the teacher was male and the victim is female. Not so, male victims of sex abuse (and yes this is abuse) have statistically the same long term issues (depression, inappropriate sexual behavior, self esteem issues, just to name a few) as female victims. So no, it is not just their problem, its society's problem.

Either way, its is totally inappropriate. School is a place for education, not for a teacher to find a sex partner.
Reply:It can happen and its true you never know who you are going to fall in love with, however with this type of relationship timeing is a key thing, your gonna have to wait until you have left school, and if it really is love then it shouldnt be that hard.

If its really love then you should see a man and he should see a women. and with that comes respect and waiting,
Reply:uhh if you under 18, then its illegal. the teacher could go to jail for rape. and lose job. and the kid could get into trouble to.

happens all the time in the city im in in other school districts. that does happen. and it doesn't result in anything good.
Reply:YOU HAVE TO BE 18 TO HAVE SEX!
Reply:because your risking a relation with buisness yea love doesnt see age but it does see lust and career ruiners

Student on a cart?

A 63kg student stands on a 34kg cart that is free to move in any direction. The cart and student are moving together with a velocity of 3.2m/s [W]. The student then starts to walk so that her velocity is 1.8m/s [25° W of N] relative to the floor. Calculate the new velocity of the cart.

Student on a cart?

West:

(63+34)*3.2=63*1.8*cos25+

34*v*cos(theta)

North

solve for v

(97*3.2-63*1.8*cos25)=34*v*cos(theta)

63*1.8*sin25=34*v*sin(theta)

Student Government...HELP?

Hello,

This friday I am running in my high school's student elections. I am running for something called Junior Rep. This is a position is one that I am the representative on the schools student council for the grade nines next year. I am EXTREMELY passionate about my school and their student council but I am running against three of the MOST popular people in my school. I have no catch phrase my name is Jordynn Johnson.

I need ideas on how to campaign in the next, poster ideas and catch phrases . Oh and I can only make one 8"x11" poster.

Thanks so much for your help

JJordynn

Student Government...HELP?
Your gonna need flyers.

You need a pic of you pointing like on the war poster with ' YOU NEED ME' at the top of it.

Then at the bottom write this.

(Make sure theres your country flag behind you on the pic).

' there coms one time in ones life when they must choose, between the passionate person, and the popular person (The 4 P's) But be aare that the choice consults you, the choice could back fire on you.

I would say that I am the first two P's, and I know what you need and I want to know what you want, and yes, I will try my hardest to give you it, that is why, come voting day you must vote for me, Jordynn Johnson, as your Junior rep, for a vote for Jordynn Johnson is a vote for complete service and passion.

You Know What To Do, So Do It'

Then have some things ure gonna change, then your signature.

Hope this helps.
Reply:"JoJo for Junior Rep" is kinda catchy and memorable. A better one may arise. You left no other info on what else you will be doing during your campaign (such as debates, speeches, pamphleteering". But remember, if you have ever done this thing in Middle School and won, you have some cache going into this election. Also, despite popularity, if your opponents are also known as stupid or irresponsible their popularity may not transfer to votes.

Good Luck to you!

Student loan interest?

i have federal and private student loans. i listed them all when i did my federal taxes, and now i'm working on my state taxes (indiana and kansas because i moved). on the state taxes, it asks if i have and student loan interest to deduct.

did i do this wrong? do i only list federal student loan interest in federal taxes and then private ones on state? my private loans are based in pennsylvania (where i'm originally from).

help!!

p.s. i'm filing on H%26amp;R Block's website

Student loan interest?
Yes that's advisable to list your loan accordingly. However, when you have moved to the different state so that would make no difference. Check http://www.studentloaninfo.org/index.htm... for further info on student loans
Reply:No, you list all the intereste from your student loans on the tax form as well. Just like you did on the federal form.

Student loan help...?

I am going to be attending college in the fall, I am a transfer student to a RN program (I am an LPN). I have applied for the Pell Grant and scholarships. My EFC is 70.I really need a dependable car and I was wondering if I got a student loan if I could buy a car with a student loan? If so, which kind of loan?

- I am not sure what my credit score is, although I have a credit card and have had it for about a year and have it completely paid off with a limit of $1000

- I currently don't work, but i have about $4000 in savings and plan on working part time when I am licensed.

- What loan is best for my situation?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Student loan help...?
Private student loans give you the option of using the money for whatever you want. The check is sent directly to you unlike federal loans which send the check to the school.

Good Luck.
Reply:your school loans have a lower interest rate and it is deferred until after you are done with school. you may not be able to handle a car note right now. don't buy a brand new car. get something that is decent and dependable at least until after you are done w/your studies
Reply:You can't buy a car with a student loan. Student loans are put on 10 year payment plans. Do you really want to be paying on that car long after it's dead 12 years from now?

Besides, the school doesn't disperse the money to you all at once, you get half in the fall and half in the spring.... not all at once. Better get a car loan to buy a car.
Reply:I read your Article. I have applied for series of Loan in different loan companies online and end up loosing my money.I lost $2,400.00 in the hands those internet loan scammers, who claim to be loan lenders. I lost every penny i had till a friend directed me to Macro Loan House, were i applied for a loan of $46,000.00 which was Approved and transfer to me. Is there any student loan in the UK (specifically in England) which international students can apply for?

Please help me in this one. I know that student loans are usually for home students, but I'd still like to try and find out. I plan to really study, live and work in England even after I'm done with Medicine so maybe it will work out.

If there aren't any, what are the possible institutions, banks or organizations I can ask help from, whether in the UK or world-wide? Are there any other forms of financial aid I can get or apply for as an international student? Can I get a student loan if I live and/or work for a few years in the UK, for example?

Thank you. :)

Is there any student loan in the UK (specifically in England) which international students can apply for?
not exactly, there is no loan facility for the international students. if you are from European union then you can have a status of a home student and need to pay only a nominal fee. and if you are a common wealth student then in some university you can have fee concession ( need to contact the common weatlthoffice , London).and if you are non of them then you need to pay the full fee according to fee schedule. one thing you can do that if you have the money to pay the minimus instalment in the start of the session ( which is usually half of the fee) then the university will make two of three easy instalments , which you can manage to pay by your job or cradite cards ( which you can secure with opening a bank account)... for more detail do not hesitate to contact me on imalinaqvi@yahoo.com
Reply:Of course not! den why did u come here to study if u dont have the money? lol
Reply:You are probably going to find that your only option is to apply for an unsecured loan through a loan broker.

Try

They are the two of the largest unsecured loan companies in the UK and will be able to search around for you to find someone who may be abe to accept you.
Reply:I had a little trouble understanding from your question if you're a UK citizen who wants to study abroad, or a non-UK citizen who wants to study in the UK...

Sallie Mae International offers loans to US students who want to study abroad, and international students who study in the US. http://www.salliemae.com/international

Student project on the use of substances derived from living organisms for commercial purposes.?

I have to submit the idea for a student project in an analytical chemistry course. The project is about bioprospection which is the use of substances derived from living organisms for commercial or even everyday purposes. We are avoiding anything related to the medical field because this is beyond the scope of the course. Some students have already proposed ideas such as the production of perfumes or even dyes ... If you have other interesting ideas about the subject, this would REALLY help. Thanks!

Also, if you know about interesting scientific websites that could help in such topics, feel free to share them with me...

I know some of them contain carageenan (Chondrus crispus aka irish moss is a one species of red algae that has it), which is used in everything from toothpaste to beer to shampoo to ice cream to processed cheese. Brown algae have alginic acid in their cell walls that is used for stuff too.

Student Work Permit?

Does anybody know the minimum age that a person can be to get a Student Work Permit? I don't know if it changes with states, but if it does I live in California. Also, are there only certain jobs that will allow a student to work there, or do most jobs allow students to work? Thank you in advance.

Student Work Permit?
I believe you have to be 15 1/2 or 16 years to work in California. Most jobs (except with heavy machinery) should let you work at 16, although most people at that age get a job at a fast food restaurant.

Difference between MIT student and Harvard Student?

I have heard that the difference between an MIT student and Harvard student is that MIT students are more on math and science, and Harvard more on liberal arts. But to get into Harvard you have to have good grades on all subjects. So, wouldn't a Harvard student be good at math too?

Difference between MIT student and Harvard Student?
Wow, it looks like none of the people answering your question went to either school. I went to MIT and have friends from Harvard.

MIT students are more on math and science. Our curriculum, no matter what major, requires 2 semesters of calculus, 2 semesters of physics, 1 semester of chemistry, 1 semester of biology, and at least 3 other technical courses that form the core curriculum for all students. Students at Harvard who are not majoring in science or engineering are not required to have such a heavy basis in science and math.

To get into both schools, you have to have good grades in all subjects. A Harvard student should be just as good in high school math as an MIT student, but when it comes to higher level courses like differential equations and multivariable calculus, only the engineering students at Harvard can come close to matching wits with any student at MIT (even one majoring in Anthropology).

While MIT has humanities courses, the vast majority of our students major in science and engineering (with some in business as well). MIT students are required to take humanities classes to graduate, so we are well rounded.

As an MIT alum, I will say it seemed like we worked A LOT harder than Harvard students. We spent more time studying and did more all nighters. In addition, MIT does not give out honororary degrees like Harvard and we don't put any weight on legacy admissions like Harvard. I would argue that it's harder to get in and to get through MIT, but I know my Harvard friends would disagree.
Reply:MIT is a progressive technology school and Harvard is old school liberal arts (and ivy league).
Reply:ONE WOULD THINK SO EH?
Reply:$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
Reply:The MIT student is the typical, definitely going to be 40 year old virgin type, yet amazingly good at math, while the Harvard student is the rich kid who bought his way into college using daddy's money, who did okay on his SATs.
Reply:the embossed pocket protectors is the main difference.
Reply:A Harvard student appears to be intelligent, but an MIT student is actually intelligent.
Reply:C A S H
Reply:MIT is more tech driven, hence the name. Math plays a big part in that, I imagine they focus less on the philosophy aspects and the "why is the world screwed up" parts, and more on the "let's invent something to fix the screwed up parts"...
Reply:MIT students learn how to think.

Harvard students learn how to feel.
Reply:Yes, but after normal training for Harvard they don't focus on math anymore.

When you're in MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

you make Computers, Computer Programs, and Computer Related Applications.
Reply:They are both well educated on all subjects and yes they do fine math.

Student Loans and Taxes!?

Okay, the IRS stuff is confusing me. I didn't attend school last year but am paying on student loans from when I was in school. In order to take the student interest deduction, do I have to have been in school last year? In other words, can you only get the student interest deduction if you were in school?

Student Loans and Taxes!?
1. It is the "Student loan interest deduction" not the student interest deduction. This is important, because it applies only to interest on "student loans", not other loans from when you are a student (or interest on other loans even if you are still a student).

2. You do not have to be a student when you take the deduction.
Reply:If you paid interest on eligible student loans, no matter how long ago it was that you were actually in school, you can take the student loan interest deduction.

Student kept on saying Napolean needs to "Step His Game Up." Any definitions?

My class at HS #342 in the Upper East Side had a discussion the other day about the Napoleonic Wars...It was very heated with some students acting out some of Napoleon Bonaparte's famous speeches to his troops which quickly turned into a debate. Will suffice to say one student was upset about Napolean's bonehead move to take on the British at Waterloo...Sorry for all the backgound, but one student keep saying "that Napolean needs to Step his Game up" not once but about 5 times, sometimes he'd say "Step your game up" or "step it up" i think it has something to do with the strange uniforms that the French wore, well at least the boots...any ideas? I dont like going into class clueless!

Student kept on saying Napolean needs to "Step His Game Up." Any definitions?
To "Step your game up" means you need to do better. Or, in other words, put more effort into the action. He probably meant he needed to figure out what he was doing wrong and start doing it right.

Student Loan Question?

I took out a student loan from Sallie Mae so I could go to college. At the time I took out the loan, I was married and had 4 children. We have since divorced and I had to quit going to college. I am having financial problems, trying to pay rent and take care of my children on my own with no child support and I am really have a tough time paying back my student loan. Now they are telling me my student loan defaulted. I have called them and told them my finances and I have sent them copies showing them how much money I make( which is less then $10,000 a year for 5 people. How can I get this default off of my credit? I want to go back to college one day but for now I have to work to take care of my kids.

Student Loan Question?
You should have made the call BEFORE you defaulted. There are certain times when you can get a loan deferred for financial hardship...I don't know if they are as likely to do that for you though if you already defaulted. Call and talk to the school too, they should be able to give you tips.

Also, try to get a different job that pays more and sue the ex so that he starts paying child support!
Reply:Since your Sallie Mae loan is in default it means that you were in forebarence for at least 9-12 months (making no payments) prior to going into default.

Now that you are in default (and yes, it will stay on your credit report) you will have to make those payments for 9 consecutive months before you will be in good standing.

It's doubtful at this point the lender is going to work with you to give you lower payments. Had you called them prior to going into default they most likely would have helped you.

It's also doubtful you'll find someone to consolidate you with a default on your credit report.

I know your situation is hard, but you're going to have to look outside the box for additional employment that will work with your situation.

I wish you the best of luck.
Reply:Getting a defaulted loan off your credit is difficult to say the least. Keep writing them and the credit bureaus and document everything. This will help in the long run.

Student loan and your credit.?

I'm currently in school and don't need to start paying on my student loan until six month after i'm finish school, my credit score is not too bad "700 " but i tried to get a loan and noone would approve me because of my student loan. I owe on a few credit cards, i make my payment on time and i don't owe alot of money on them.

Should my student loans already be affecting my credit even though i don't owe them as yet?

Student loan and your credit.?
Your student loan should not have any effect on your credit. Don't apply with the person that listed above me! Go through a major credit card company.

I didn't finish my thought - as long as your student loans are in good standing - it should not have a big effect on your credit eligibility since it is not a REVOLVING debt. It is an installment and is viewed VERY differently from credit cards.
Reply:Yes, it will affect your credit because it is a liability, money that you owe.
Reply:I had a $30,000 student loan. I had no problem getting a credit card with $25,000 credit line with BOA. I don't think student loan has any effect on how I get a loan.

What type of loan did you try to get? I even bought a house while I was in school with a 5% fixed rate for 20 years.

If you have good credit, I don't see why can't you get a loan. I didn't have any problem matter of fact, I was pre-approved for my mortgage.
Reply:Yes. It is outstanding debt that you owe.
Reply:Any time you build a line of credit or take a loan, that will affect your credit and eligibility for credit cards.

When you sign up for credit cards or cancel credit cards, that will affect your credit report. I think the fact you are spreading yourself thin and owing multiple sources will not look good from a loan officer point of view. They are not only looking at your credit score, but also how much debt you have built-up compared to your income and assets.

Even though you don't owe alot, a loan officer would see it as two strikes against you rather than only $500 in debt from two credit cards. Pay off all your credit cards, stick to only 2 credit cards and build some savings and you will be a more eligible candidate.

In the end, a loan is a loan, debt is debt regardless when you have to pay it off.

What is a student consolidation?

I have a student loan out with sallie mae and I owe about 5 thousands dollars because I graduated and now I am attending a community college and I was wondering can I consolidate my student loan. I need some information on consolidating a student loan and what really is a student consolidation? And I am a month late on paying back my student loan with sallie mae its not in default. any advice

What is a student consolidation?
The FFELP Consolidation Loan Program is usually a great idea. This free federal program was developed in order to ease the financial burden on students once they graduate school and go into repayment on their Federal Student Loans. Some of the advantages of the FFELP Consolidation Loan Program are: having one bill and one lender, locking in the lowest possible interest rate available to you, lowering your monthly payments, and resetting your Deferment and Forbearance time.

If the Student Loans that you have are Federal Stafford loans and they were disbursed to you before July 1st, 2006, than the interest rate on those loans will be Variable, which means they are subject to an interest rate change every July 1st, which is determined by the Federal Government. For more information on current Federal Student Loan interest rates, as well as more detailed information on the FFELP Consolidation Loan Program, please visit the source below.

Good Luck, I hope this helps!
Reply:A student loan consolidation is basically a way you can "combine" two or more student loans into just one monthly payment. It's very convenient and lowers the interest rate you pay.

Student's mass?

A physics student is standing on an initially motionless, frictionless turntable with rotational inertia 0.31 kg·m2. He's holding a wheel of rotational inertia 0.22 kg·m2 spining at 133 rpm about a vertical axis, as we showed in Fig. 11.8. When he turns the wheel upside down, student and turntable begin rotating at 63 rpm.

(a) What is the student's mass, considering him to be a cylinder 30 cm in diameter?

(b) How much work did he do in turning the wheel upside down? Neglect the distance between the axes of the turntable and wheel.

Student's mass?
You cannot do this problem unless you assume the wheel does not change its speed as the student flips it over.

IF you assume that, then this is what you do:

Let L_wheel = angular momentum of wheel = Iw [I= moment of inertia = .22 kgm^2, w = angular momentum = 133*2PI/60].

The change in angular momentum is 2L [because the wheel is going from spinning clockwise to spinning counter-clockwise].

This change in angular momentum must be matched by the angular momentum gained by the turntable and the student.

L_table = Iw , I= .31kgm^2, w =63*2PI/60

L_student = Iw, I=1/2mr^2, w = 63*2PI/60, r = .15 m

Set L_table + L_student = 2L_wheel and solve for mass.

To find work, just calculate the kinetic energy gained by the student and table:

KE_student = 1/2 Iw^2, KE_table = 1/2Iw^2

The work is equal to the gain in kinetic energy.

Student body vice president vs. Senior class president?

I'm running for a student council office this upcoming spring and I was wondering which position looked better on college applications. My best friend is running for student body president, otherwise I would do that. We are a great team and no matter which position, I'll still be able to work with him. Don't get me wrong, my heart isn't solely into how good I look on college applications, I would respect either positions and do my best job. I've never stepped out to be in a position like a president and I want to try something new, yet, I like the idea of being on board for the whole student body. Help!

P.S. I want to go to the University of Florida, and my second choice is University of Miami. The best schools, ever. =)

Student body vice president vs. Senior class president?
Either is OK. Remember that they have to look at thousands of applications within a limited time. Both are leadership positions. That's all that matters.

Personally, I would go for the one that takes the least amount of time so I would have that time to study and raise my GPA.

If you have your heart set on a particular school you can do it. Watch the movie "RUDY."
Reply:Both of those are good positions./ As VP you are number 2 as President you are number 1. I would choose to have you as number 1.
Reply:Neither, once you leave high school the only thing that matters are your SAT, or ACT scores.

Your success in college depends on how well you can study independently, and if you can handle the classes.

Student loans and home loans?

I know that student loan payments are taken into account as part of your debt when buying a home. But what about if you're still in school and you aren't making student loan payments yet? We're looking to buy a house in about 5 mos. and in may I'll graduate with a BA, I've include my estimated conslidated student loan payment in our debt. However my husband is entering grad school and we won't be paying back his loans for another 3 yrs. But will that still affect how much we can borrow now for a home?

Student loans and home loans?
Source a fair bit of information from the net on loans for those in your situation. Write it all down and then apply this to your income and spending.
Reply:I just took out a second on my house, and my wife is in her 2nd year of college. We wont start paying on her loans until after she graduates either, and the loans did not show up on our credit report for the 2nd loan.

A young girl student in Gujarat was gang raped by six professors for last 6 years. Is this real free India ?

In Patan city of Gujarat, a young , very intelligent %26amp; brilliant young girl student , undergoing teacher's training in govt. run training college was gangraped by six professors namely Manish Parmar, Ashwin Parmar, Suresh Patel, Atul Patel, Kiran Patel %26amp; Nahendra Patel for last six months. That was going on since 2001 with girl students in the college. Her father Babubhai Makwana was threatened for dire consequences if he reported to police. How can this happen in India ? Chief minister Narendra Modi, the butcher of 1,00,000 innocent Muslims since 2002 talks too high of peace, security %26amp; development in the state but reality is contradicting in all respects. Crime against girl students in Gujarat %26amp; Maharastra is at peak. In Mumbai city too 80% girl students are sexually tortured. All medical girl students have to have sex with staff members of colleges every year to escape being failed deliberately. How to eliminate this most inhuman dirty culture against girls at once ?

A young girl student in Gujarat was gang raped by six professors for last 6 years. Is this real free India ?
india is not free at all. even now you can get big punishment like 1-2 days in "special fell like home jails". for small things like murdering 2or3 dozen people(Modi, amrinder noida), raping a new girl daily(amrinder noida), scam million dollar in your department, (lalu, fernandis and many great leaders). india will free when their will no one to hear and see. bottom thing if you are human enough then make a movement of same likes and ask Great Britain to command us again we are ready to be slave at least they were far better. I love them for their everything discipline, honour, culture their values. Indians can not be like them. Inidan are worse then hitler, osama and saddam.
Reply:It is not FREE INDIA. It's FREE IN INDIA. Don't be serious. It is a fact. B'coz no proper punishments for such an act here.
Reply:You need to change the culture and stop corruption. They same "liberal" media that opened people's eyes to injustices here in the States, would serve well in India. Television that shows the immorality of those actions and encourages an open dialog for victims, can change the way the youth and the elders view it. When the children grow, they will carry over those values. Changes could easily be made in 15-20 years. With demands, legislators can pass laws based on public opinion to help change the culture.
Reply:Yes this is real India , the security use advanced technology to convert terrorists into transgenders and rape them, because their ancestors burnt our colleges and universities for no reason.

We also have electronic devices designed in collaboration with the US and Israel that can detect hate filled loathsome animals known as the "Destructors" and we then get them in one place and appoint people like Modi to massacre them.

These device is not very advanced as yet so the speed is slow but with the new IC design proposed in silicon valley we will get much better speeds.

There is a serious threat that our enemies will also try to acquire such device and hence this is TOP secret project X-Terminator series 2000 advanced microscopic devices for humanoid implants to cause Destructor destruction.

Iam telling you man the tracking IC is all over even in those small transistor radios, cell phones, thick fabric.

Every single voice is tracked man , be careful they are gonna get you real fast.

If you dont believe me ask any cop, soldier from India, they also are importing advanced mind control device from US. Heard the US is using it on Pakistan now thru their military satellite.

Reply:India is a great country. A billion plus population. A Thousand culture and a million religion. Hundreds of languages. There are good things as well as bad things about India. Mostly, Indians are free to practice and live according to their faith in most of the places. But cases of Narendra Modi and Gujarath issues are a shame to free India. How many innocents did he kill in cold blood?. There is no strict punishment there either. Criminals and their crime are dragged for years even after their conviction and can later become ministers. look at the neighboring China. it is more strict than Saudi Araba in punishment. Proper punishments are needed in order for those peaceful to live peacefully.
Reply:Who saying that India is free or the rules and regulation are as per Indian culture.

I would like to say that when this country was in the hands of English/British there was some leaders born and they give scarifies for this country and their ideas was that this country should have our own Government, our own constitution our own rules and regulations but they went without get freedom and when freedom given to this country by the English the left leader have adopted the constitution of Britain and all the rules and regulation are now operating as per English culture and nobody have right to speak against the British today also

You would say that what I am saying, so I would like to explain that in our country there was so many constitutions like as Manusmriti, Vidurnity, Chanakyanity and many other you may see but none of them was adopted which are as per this country's culture

So, now we can only see to happening the events as per the English thoughts

Sorry to English persons if they feel bad about me but I am right as per my own country's thoughts and the culture of my country and if anybody have objection may contact with me

Have we ever tried to know about mini or remote area crime. I believe percrentaile of such crime is more higher than metro cities . Why we always tried to aim put Modi/ or other nation leader. Rape is a biggest crime forever but the accused easliy escape from weakness or flaws of Indian law. There should be only one law i.e. a culprit should live with one hand, two leg and without tounge and cut his pen....

Now come to this patan case. I donot know the reality of raping a girl since six months, becuase fact is this we all not aware about this from six months. We come to know when everything has gone from her hand and she is in hospital. My sentiments with that girl and I already speaked about punishement of such brutual culprit should not be hang, they should be live without pen.... less etc.

My one question to every girl, why u donot speak to your parents at first instance, why u all tolerate these sexually totured.

Now a days there is one prinicpal is going on in our culture i.e give and take theory. The sound is so easy and some girls want to reach top at any cost to used that theory. I was shocked this Patan case happen where a girl going to become a teacher in near future. A teacher training students knows what's right and how to protect their self.

My appeal to Supreme Court to amend rape law where case must be solved within 6 months and punishment must be like this becuase death is not a solutions of any crime.

I have an objection in the context of question also? Why you putting muslim in this context? Please don't put more relgion issue chapters in India. We are one.India already suffered religion since British. And politician and our sweetest negibour already trying to vanish India for their respective selfiness. So my request to all of you donot rape ourseleved through religion

Rape is a top most crime in this world and ofcourse in India also, not matter about relgion

Call them and talk to them about it. Ask if you can sub the utility bill for another one. More than likely they are just trying to verify your ID. Just be honest.

Student exchange hawaii?
OK -- first, Hawaii is a STATE, not a country! If you want to go to Hawaii, you will need to apply to come to the U.S.

Most exchange programs will not allow you to pick a particular state. However, the Aspect Foundation will -- if you apply early and pay extra.

You can find the American site here: http://aspectfoundation.org/ You can contact their world headquarters from that site. They will give you the information on their partner programs -- one of which may be in Australia.

Good luck.

Buying a Melodica ... student models? Best values?

Hi

I am looking to buy a melodica. At some point, I'm hoping to work it into performances with the band I'm in, but there's of course a chance I could decide I don't like how the sound meshes and end up not ever using it in a performance.

I'm trying to figure out whether to buy a student model, which runs $40 or so (specifically the Hohner S32), or a more advanced model, which I'm guessing is better made (most likely the Hohner HM32, which runs about $100 or so). If I'm not sure I'm going to take a serious interest in the instrument, should I play it safe and get the student model, or is there a substantial difference in the quality of sound and ease of playing a more advanced model? Someone mentioned to me that student models generally have smaller keys; I have big hands, so this could pose a problem, but I was hoping to confirm that that was the case with student models.

I guess the crux of this question is, what are the disadvantages of buying a student model? Thanks...

Buying a Melodica ... student models? Best values?
wow i didn't know those things were still around. i had one when i was little, and i think it was a more advanced model. if you are going to buy one for yourself, you should go ahead with the more advanced model. sounds like you are more advanced with music anyway. plus you have bigger fingers. i would think student models are made cheaper, since kids aren't as responsible and have more of a chance to break them.

STUDENT LOAN QUESTION: I was curious about whether you could be put in jail for defaulting on student loans?

I have over $100,000 in student loans and am not making very much money at all. I'm barely able to pay my bills and there is no way that I can manage $1100 a month. I'm wondering what would happen if I just send in $100 a month until I start to make more money. I can't even afford HALF of what I'm supposed to pay! All of this college did not lead to a very high paying job. FYI: These are FEDERAL loans and have already been consolodated. I still have a year of unemployment deferment left and will use it if I have to. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN BE PUT IN JAIL FOR NON (OR SLOW) PAYMENT OF STUDENT LOANS? I know they can take tax returns, bank accounts, and even prevent you from getting certain kinds of government jobs. If I work as a public school teacher can they take my teaching certificate? I'm not trying to get out of paying these debts, it's just that I can't do it on their schedule!!!! I would be dying at $200 a month, and they want more than I can pay. Any REAL asnwers please!

STUDENT LOAN QUESTION: I was curious about whether you could be put in jail for defaulting on student loans?
You cannot be put in jail for defaulting on your loans because there is no debtor's prison in the U.S. Also, you cannot have your education revoked because of bad debt. However, your Alma Mater may withhold your educational records if you are in default, which could make getting a job in education difficult.

The minimum monthly payment allowable under the federal student loan program is $50.00. If you are making a payment of at least $50.00 per month, you are making payments and should not be reported to the credit bureaus for non-payment. Default means you have not made any payments and have not been in either forbearance or deferment status for 270 days.

The monthly payment you stated is probably for a Standard Repayment plan. U.S. Federal Student Loans have four possible payment plans: Standard, Extended, Graduated, and Income-Contingent.

The Standard Payment plan is for a repayment period of 10 years (or 120 months). The payment is the same for the entire repayment period of the loan. So, if you owe $100,000 at 7% interest and repay for 10 years, your monthly payment would be $1161.00. (Over the life of the loan, you will pay $40,000 in interest).

The Extended Payment plan is for a repayment period of up to 30 years (360 months). The payment is the same over the entire repayment period of the loan, but tends to be less than the standard because you are paying over a longer period of time. So, if you owe $100,000 at 7% interest and repay over 30 years, your monthly payment would be $665.00. (Over the life of the loan, you will pay $140,000 in interest).

The Graduated Payment plan is for a repayment period of 12 to 30 years. The payment starts low and increases at regular intervals. The initial payment is either the monthly accumulated interest or half of the standard payment, whichever is greater. The payment will never be greater than 1.5 times the standard payment. The initial payment in a Graduate Payment plan if you owe $100,000 at 7% interest is $583.00. (The total interest paid will be more than with a Standard Payment plan and will depend on how long you choose to repay the loan).

You may be eligible for an Income Contingent Repayment plan (ICR). This plan has a repayment period of up to 25 years. It is based on your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), family size, interest rate and total amount of student loans. The payment is calculated annually based on the above information. This payment may be less than the amount of accumulated monthly interest. So, with the above assumptions, your payment could be less than $580.00 per month. Hopefully, the payment could be less than $200/mo.

You need to call the servicer of your loans or at the very least go to their website. Look on the Promissory note you signed for your loan consolidation to determine who owns your loans.

If you are a public school teacher in a critical need area, you may qualify to have some of your debt paid by your state or school district. Talk to your school district's personnel office.
Reply:the Federal government will NOT put you in jail if you do not pay your student loans, but they will hound you until you do, and since you say you cannot get a job that pays for the loans you minds well get used to the idea you'll be paying on those forever because the interest will eat you alive. I'm curious though what degree(s) you got for that large an amount of money, email me and maybe I can make suggestions since usually for paying that kind of money there are jobs out there or you open your own business. The Federal government says they never refuse any money you send them, however if you go into a student loan website and check their calculator you'd be amazed how long you will have to pay on those loans at $100 a month. People with high bills take on 2-3 or more jobs to pay those off. And yes, surprisingly even though the government wants their money back they do dun your credit report to keep you from paying it back. Go figure. I think it's because they have created so many new collection positions who are now allowed by law to charge up to 15% more per year on top of your loans as their collection fee.
Reply:I don't beleive they will put you in jail as then they can't get any money. They will take what they can get from you, but it will definately ding your credit. Call them when the time comes for you to start making payments and see what you can work out. I would suggest you get a second job as you will be paying that forever on a teachers salary and you cannot get rid of that debt through bankruptcy.
Reply:There is no debtor prison, so no, you can't be put in jail. However, you should contact the lender and ask if you can put your loans in forebearance. You still pay interest on your loan, but you don't pay against the principal.
Reply:Nope, there is only one debt you can be arrested for in America, and that's nonpayment of child support. You should contact your lender and apply for a forbearance on the loan, the payments will stop but the interest will still accrue.

Most lenders are just happy to receive SOMETHING rather than nothing.

Student Loans?

I am currently going to college I don't have very good credit and I am taking 5 classes and I wanted to know if I could still take out a student loan and deffer payment till I graduate even if I am not employed and don't have good credit? or does anyone know of student loan companies who do not require for you to be employed there is one it's something like myrichuncle.com, but that is the only one I know about. Any one out there know how I can get approved for student loans at school with out being employed?

Student Loans?
The federal Stafford loan does not require you to be employed, has no credit check and you can defer payment until you graduate. Start by filling out your FAFSA (fafsa.ed.gov).

Make sure you max out the federal loan money that's available to you before you use private student loans. Federal loans generally have lower interest rates and more generous repayment options. Private loans are typically credit based (meaning you need good credit or a cosigner with good credit.)

Good luck!

Student Loans... Errr Grants....?

Does anyone else think it is fair that they had to take a student loan to pay for their education, and now grants have been re-introduced?

This will obviously not affect many people reading this, I was the first year to have to pay tuition fees and take out a student loan, so we are looking at seven academic years. However, my 0% interest loan has crept up to around 2%, costing me £20 a month. I don't earn 15K so am not paying it off yet, so every week I owe more. How is it fair that now students are ellagable to get the same money as me, but for free?

I May just be grumpy, but in a market that is saturated with similarly qualified employees I'm sure I have the righth to be!! Lol!

Just hope its not just me that feels this way....

Student Loans... Errr Grants....?
You don't know that you would qualify for grants if you were just now going to school.

My student loan didn't start accruing interest until I was done with school.

In my opinion, there is no reason to get upset for something that you didn't have an option for.
Reply:That's life. Policies change, get over it. There is nothing you can do about it, so stop complaining.

And your interest is only 2%? Ha, try being in the US where the interest is 6.8% on government student loans. Thankfully that is changing to 3% for us in the next two years!

Seems like you still have quite a bit of growing up to do.
Reply:Nope, it annoys the ar** off me too. We all did what we were told to do at 17 and that did not include getting a credit card and being declared bankrupt - which is a pretty dumbass thing to do if you ask me.

I don't see why we should have to pay when people whose parents earn up to £60,000 (which mine certainly didn't) get it all for free.

No, you're not grumpy at all - just right!
Reply:see if this helps
Reply:Unfortunately they don't do degree's in common sense what you should have done is use the loans credit cards and any other credit had a year out at the end and declare yourself bankrupt then you wouldn't be paying anything have a nice day

Student council?

I am running to be in student council, and i want to either be the president or the vice president. I reallly really want to win, but i almost feel that if i dont get elected to be president or vice president, i'll cry my heart out. There will be 23 people all wanting to be in the student council, and only 8 positions, including president and vice president. Any tips on how to do good, mabye what happened to you when you ran for student council? We also have to do an application. I am kind of a perfectionist. I am also in 7th grade.

Student council?
I wish you good luck and lots of success!

Reply:Ok well i am in my 3rd year of student council and currently serving as a county position (head of all middle school student councils in my county) a good way to campaign is giving out candy makinh brochures and having a good slogan. Make sure you have ideas for event you will have to be hostign to share with the group of people who will be voting. MAKE SURE THAT THE THINGS WILL APPEAL THE THE VOTERS. keep it shor tand sweet so you dont loose there interest
Reply:I worked on student council in my last year of high school, and was on the committee overseeing that year's election. The candidates who won, unfortunately enough, were the most popular and had the best presentation. Their platform, however, wasn't very original or realistic. You need to evenly balance good politics and a good persona.

When you're giving your speech, interact with the audience in a way that suggests you're having fun doing this. Don't just answer their questions straight out. Joke around with them. Offer some freebies if you can. Play some music before it's your turn to speak.

Before the election itself, make sure to have a better advertising campaign than just "Vote for Maddison." If you've ever seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite, you can take some cues from there. Remember: "If you vote for me, I will make all of your wildest dreams come true." That'll get them every time.

Your platform shouldn't be all about clubs and school dances. Discuss ways to improve the building or the daily schedule. Talk about ways the students can help the community and the environment. Hopefully, you're planning a few decent charity projects. Also, make sure that some of your planned activities give the students the chance to speak out. Consider a "[name of your school] Idol" or a comedy night.

Good luck!

Student exchange programs...?

I was looking into student exchange programs to do for either the last semester of my junior year or my senior year (I am going to be a junior this year).

I was wondering if you participate in a student-exchange program does this look good or bad on college applications (if you make good grades)? Also, when would be the best time to do it?

I was thinking of going to Mexico, but can anyone tell me what other spanish-speaking country would be good for student-exchange? Thanks.

Student exchange programs...?
Student exchange program sounds soo awesome, I've always wanted to try it. I wonder how I can be pick though.

Student loans?

In the Fall of 2008, I will be leaving for dental school for 4-6 years to become a dentist. I will be attending one of the 3 dental schools in Texas (either Dallas, San Antonio, or Houston). None of the dental schools have housing or dorms. I will have to rent a nearby apartment where ever I go. My question is what is the best way to pay for school and living while I am away at school? Do student loans pay for living expenses (rent, food, etc.)? Do you recommend any particular student loan organization(s)? Should i borrow from more than one student loan company or stick to one loaner? I need all the information you could give me because i know absolutely nothing about this. I know i have to go into debt, but I want to do it the smartest way possible. Thank you.

Student loans?
Student loans CAN cover living expenses, but usually if it is from the government, they send the money to the school first and you get whatever is left after your tuition is paid. However, Sallie Mae offers a loan called the Tuition Answer loan that goes directly to you. Its considered a private loan because it's not through the government.

You can borrow from more than one lender because once you graduate you will consolidate your loans and pay off one LARGE loan. I would recommend you get a part time job and make some money for little expenses, but rely mostly on financial aid and loans for major living expenses. You want to be able to focus on school.
Reply:There are several other lenders that offer similar private loans but I would definately stay away from Sallie Mae...they are kind of a shady company. I would look in to companies like Whachovia or Citibank. Citi is the 2nd largest student loan provider in the country. Report It

Can a student get a couple student loans?

Can a student get a couple student loans? Can a part time student get student loans?

Can a student get a couple student loans?
apply for all the financial aid that u possibly can, but yeah u can get more than one.
Reply:yes offcource
Reply:You can get different student loans. Federal loans (perkins and stafford) are granted with a lower interest rate and dependent on financial status. You can get private loans, but the interest rate is higher. Your education is the best investment - you're investing in yourself and your future. Borrow funds cautiously- do not over-borrow. While at the time it sounds great to take out extra money to buy a new stereo, etc.- it doesn't pay off in the end. Students loans begin accruing interest 6 months after you are last enrolled and are typically repaid for 10 years (or 30 if you consolidate!). Talk with the financial aid office at your school for more detailed information.
Reply:There are two sources for student loans -- the federal government and private lenders.

8th Grade Student Council - Running For President?

Currently I am in 7th grade and the school year will soon be dieing down. Earlier this year our school ran elections for student council members and after seeing that they aren't doing anything to change our school it made me want to participate in next years election. I currently have a student council director as n elective teacher, she knows I am interested and that I have the grades to do it. I am pretty sure I will make it in next year for student council, you need two teacher recommendations and I already have planned four.

I really want to be president. Even if I don't make it I know I will still be able to help out, but I think my voice will be hear more if I am the student body president. I have already raised concerns with some things around my school, things that can be changed for the students without being immature. I am not that popular, but already received support from popular kids.

Can anyone give me ideas to make a successful campaign?

8th Grade Student Council - Running For President?
Well of course, ADVERTISE! If you are allowed to put up posters deffently follow these guidelines!- Make sure the poster is white, DO NOT just use colored pencils. Make it red white and blue. Put a good headshot of yourself and a catchy slogan (do something 8th graders can relate to, not something all professional like) Make you name BIG and BOLD, ysing red block letters with a blue outline.

If you have large printing capabilites make full page flyers in color with a picture of yourself your name and the date of the election.

Make promis sheets. On the computer make sheets with all the issues you will fight for.

Make yourself convencig and show that you are confident and have the voter's trust.

GOOD LUCK
Reply:well i am a populer kid at my school and i am like a mobster i think that you sould run a campan and get voters. that way you all ready have ground to stand on. You allsow sould go to the geeks, comedeans, and populer people to vote for you and tell them to tell others and soon you will have lots of votes.
Reply:If you've never been in Student Council don't run for President. Especially if you haven't been an officer before either. People HATE that. Run for a lower office and do the same things you've already planned.
Reply:Get lots of posters and make up catchy slogans having to do with your name and what you plan on doing. Last year a girl running made a giant poster by the locker rooms that said, "don't be zainy, vote 4 laney." Also, dont make your slogans too long or else nobody will take the time to read them. A Vote for Dylan is a vote for better lunches. Something like that. Whatever youe want to change should be something like that. You should even hand out fliers that explain what it is you would like to help for the school. And most of all, be understanding....if you have some sort of school debate on election day then you should let people from the audience give you information on what they want at the school. Be honest...if you know there is no way what they want will happen tell them in a kind way by saying something like, " I know that no homework is great but if I am elected I still don't have the power to do that. Sorry, but that is up to the teachers and principal. But, I will do all that I can to try to get less work for us."

I hope that this helps you win your election! Good luck and try the tips I gave you...they work!!!!! I have been elected president and I am not that popular either!
