I am a first year graduate student in a Ph.D. program, and I am unclear about how to identify my student status on documents like a c.v., application letter, business card etc. I heard that I am not considered a candidate until I pass qualifying exams. But a friend of mine says doctoral student is the preferred title. What about Ph.D. student, is that ok? What am I?
