Will student status affect credit card applications?

i am a student right now and i was wondering if my status affect me being approved for a credit card or not.

will being a part time or full time student have better chances of being approved?

does the graduation date even matter?

im working alot right now so i know i have the income, but i dont know if my student status will affect anything...

Will student status affect credit card applications?
If you're breathing and in college, they'll give you a card. My advice? Don't get one. The average college students graduates with 9,000 worth of credit card debt AND student loans on top of that. And if you ruin your credit then, you're sunk. Many companies run credit checks on new applicants because you are considered less trustworthy if your credit stinks.

Old Student Loans. Planning to go to Law School?

Hello. I graduated from college 2 years ago, and I'm currently paying my student loans. I'm planning to go to Law School full time next year, but I will need NEW Student Loans.

Will I have to continue paying for my OLD student loan as I'm doing now....or is there any way that I can freeze those payments until I finish Law School? Thanks.

Old Student Loans. Planning to go to Law School?
Yes. You can have you student loans deferred since you will be attending school.

Steps to take:

1)Contact your lender. They will tell you the exact information you need to send in and even pre-fill out the deferment request form for you

2)Send in the information as required

If possible, you want to continue to pay your accrued interest on you unsubsidized loans will in law school. If you dont, that interest will be capitalized (added to your principle). You can get in debt FAST with student loans.
Reply:Yes you can enroll for a deferment, but it all depends on how much deferment you have already used. Once you took advantage of your grace period, you have a three year period of deferment, and a three year period of forbearance. while in deferment the government will pay the interest on your subsidized portion of your loans, in forbearance interest will accrue on both amounts. If you have used some of that time, one way to get more time is to consolidate; you would get an additional three years of each.
Reply:Your law school will need to send proof of enrollment to your lender, and your loans can be deferred. The interest will continue to accumulate, though.
Reply:When you are enrolled at least half time you will be placed in deferment. Contact the holder of your current or old loans. They should be able to pick up your enrollment information on the Clearing House or NSLDS.

If you used the same grammar in your application as you did in this question I can understand why they refused you a student visa.

International Student Loan Without a Co-Signer?

I am an international student from Croatia with no credit history, Co-Signer, property I directly own and also without a family. I hold an offer of a place on an Informatics and Music Technology course in London, and I have researched absolutely everything regarding the financial aid for students. I am still looking for a Co-Signer. By this time I have achieved everything on my own and I do not have anyone who could help me in any of my undertakings. I was even thinking of earning the whole amount of money needed until the next spring, because that would also prove that I am a capable, persistent and sincere person, but it is almost impossible to earn $38000 in eight months. Or is it possible? Can you please tell me where can I find aid I qualify for, or a Co-Signer who is willing and able to act as surety on my behalf? It would also be enormously helpful to know what third parties offer support by providing necessary documentation for student loans without a Co-Signer. Thank you.

International Student Loan Without a Co-Signer?
International students have more expenses than the nationalized or US-born student. International students are often charged extra fees. They also often have to pay extra for transportation and do not often have the option of living at home while attending school. If international students also come from a country with an unfavorable exchange rate, they may well need a loan in order to attend school in the United States. Despite this, many types of loans are earmarked specifically for international nationals and citizens.

This does not mean that international students cannot attend United States schools. However, it does mean that students need to seek harder to find international student loans. Even though when it comes to student loans, international students have fewer options, there are still many choices and many types of available funding that they can draw on.

If you are an international student, you will want to start approaching potential universities early. Contact several schools' international student offices, application offices, and registrar's offices. Ask for information specifically for international students. Also, contact the student financial aid office in order to find out which, if any financial aid is available to you.

You may find that you need to seek out alternative student loans rather than rely on government loans, which often not available to international students. However, you may find that you are eligible to apply for government loans in your own country. You may wish to speak to the consulate of your own country. All countries have consulates located in the United States. These offices often contain information about specific scholarships for international students and about other forms of financial aid that students can make use of.

Should I borrow excess student loan to pay high interest credit card debt now?

I am a graduate student and I am 33 years old. The only information I can locate is geared towards young students. I have a crippling amount of credit card debt but I am currently enrolled in a graduate program and I am eligible for enough excess student loan money to pay off the credit card debt. I realize this is simply "moving debt" but student loans are far more forgiving, can be delayed until after I graduate, and carry only a fraction of the interest rate. Why would I not borrow the maximum allowable amount on a student loan, and apply it towards high interest credit card debts now? Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated!

Should I borrow excess student loan to pay high interest credit card debt now?
Any time you can trade high interest debt for lower interest debt it is usually a good move. Of course, the best situation is to have no debt at all and only use the cards as a convenience (i.e. pay them in full each month to avoid the crushing interest charges).

If you move your debt to student loans be sure to avoid the temptation to once again max out your cards because you will then be left with both student loans as well as high interest credit cards to pay off.
Reply:Do it. I have a Master's degree. Worth the effort. With credit card debt you won't make it. Shake off the cards though. Cut them up %26amp; get help. See www.daveramsey.com

If you do this and keep the credit cards- you will end up the fool.

Not sure what you mean, but you can declare bankruptcy and get out of cc debt; not so with the student loan if it has any federal ties.

It is usually not a good idea to convert short term debt into long term and (as has been already stated in this thread), you can not borrow your way out of debt. Good Luck

Reply:Yes you should that interest will quickly add up. Did you ever ask your financial institution if they have a low interest credit card? Of course they will never tell you but if they do tell them you want to switch over. Consolidate...you won't believe how much interest you save.

What laws protect college student confidentiality, re: mental health issues?

Details: The Virginia Tech shootings brought up a sore point for me. When college teachers refer a disturbed student for counseling services, they aren't able to learn whether or not the student is being treated. When students face judicial affairs sanctions, neither student nor teacher complainents can find out if the offending student faced any sanctions, much less is still attending school. I'm curious about the actual law, because I'm writing to my local representatives to work to change the law. Any help or pointers appreciated.

What laws protect college student confidentiality, re: mental health issues?
A student is covered under the same privacy and confidentiality laws as the rest of us citizens.

The only change in the laws that I see may benifit everyone would be in the confidentiality section, and it would be very restrictive. The mental health director of a clinic would authorize the publishing of a name of a patient, in a registry ,that had severe, harmfull, issues. That registry would only be accessible by the chief of Police and his delegate. It would not, and should not , be accessible by other students, teachers or the public. The police computer would " Red Flag' if the patients name was entered on a check.Restricted networking would only allow certain information, enough for the police to work on.

There will be many ideas that will come forward on this and other elements of this horible incident.

Distance of student up the incline?

The spring is compressed 50 cm and used to launch a 100 kg physics student downhill. The track is frictionless until it starts up the incline. The student's coefficient of kinetic friction on the 30° incline is 0.17. The student's speed just after losing contact with the spring is 14.282 m/s.

(b) How far up the incline does the student go?

wrong check mark m (measured along the incline)

Distance of student up the incline?
The students energy when leaving the spring is:

E = KE + PE

E = 1/2 m v^2 + mgh

E = 0.5*100*14.282^2 + 100*9.8*h

E = 10198.7762 + 98h

At the bottom of the hill he will have a velocity of:

KE = 1/2 m v^2

10198.7762 + 98h = 0.5*100*v^2

v = sqrt(204 + 1.96 h)

the frictional force acting against him will be:

f = uN

f = 0.17*100*9.8*cos(30)

f = 14.4

causing a deceleration of

F = ma

14.4 = 100a

a = 0.144 m/s^2

so the student will travel up the ramp

a = delta_v/delta_t

-0.144 = (0-sqrt(204 + 1.96 h))/detla_t

0.0208*delta_t^2 = 204+196h

delta_t^2 = 9800 + 9415.5h

d = V_i*delta_t + 1/2*a*delta_t^2

d = sqrt(204 + 1.96 h)*sqrt(9800 + 9415.5h) + 0.5*0.144*(9800 + 9415.5h)

where h is the hight of the hill at which the student was released

Question about student loans and full-time-part-time schedules ...?

I'm a university student in Canada on student loans - the catch is, I must remain a full-time student (min. 3 courses).

My dilemma is that I really want to take only two courses this term (which has already begun).

If I drop two of my courses, what are the chances that I would be found out? Do students on government loans often drop from full-time to part-time and get away with it?

What should I do?

Question about student loans and full-time-part-time schedules ...?
I don't know the Canada rules on student loans but in the US usually you will be found out if you drop classes. At my school if a student drops below half time (our eligiblity for student loans) after the loans have been disbursed they are still eligible for it but if they drop before the loans have come in they do not recieve the loans so I would ask your lender or financial aid office.

Sex with student....Should adult student have right to sue University when professor takes sexual advantage?

Does an adult student have the right to sue when Professor gains knowledge of a students private life and seduces the student? Serious answers please !

Sex with student....Should adult student have right to sue University when professor takes sexual advantage?
This is definitely illegal and the student can bring action and probably get a big settlement. Go for it!!!!
Reply:You can sue for anything regardless of its validity.

What would you sue for... monetary damages or punishment?

Diplomatic channels within the university will cause him/her to get punished, however; monetary damages would be a stretch don't you think, considering the relationship was consensual.
Reply:yes- that does happen.

Talk with a lawyer.
Reply:Yes, however proving negligence by the university is a whole different ballgame. The student would have to prove that the University knew or should have known that the unethical conduct by the professor was likely. Also, the student would have to prove that an agent of the uninversity negligently or irresponsibly allowed the professor to gain access to the student's confidential information, and such access was a proximate cause of the professor's misconduct.
Reply:student and teacher relationships are frowned upon......not only because of the age difference but the fact that a teacher might pass u just because u give him head...........yes a student does have the right to sue the teacher but most have some type of proof because the teachers has rights as well
Reply:Complain to the administration first. If the administration doesnt do anything or tries to cover it up, THEN you sue the professor. Also, anybody can sue anybody, but they needs grounds for the lawsuit. If they dont have any grounds for the lawsuit or if its a frivolous lawsuit, then they are just wasting the judge's time and preventing the courts to put more criminals behind bars.

In college the student has a choice. The student can choose not to take anymore classes with that professor and stay away from that professor. The student could also get a restraining order to keep the professor away.

Do all the alternatives (like: complaining to the administration, staying away from the professor, getting a restraining order etc..) before suing the professor. Then it would free up more of the courts' time, so that they can put the murders, robbers, serial rapists etc behind bars or sentence them.
Reply:If the student made a complaint to the administration and the administration did nothing, or actively tried to cover it up.
Reply:Yes, if it was rape. Talk to a Lawyer.
Reply:yes if it was rape

y did that happen to u?
Reply:Of course everyone has the right to sue. But the question is - do you have the grounds to sue. I think you do if you can prove it. One question I have is this:

Did you not have the choice to report the professor first?
Reply:ok come on....if this person is an adult he/she shouldnt be asking such a stupid question. Did the "adult student" not learn anything growing up???....obviously action can be taken....I swear I hate these dumb questions.....

Are student loans granted to grad students who carry credit card debt?

Is there a certain amount of debt that disqualifies one from student loans?

I'll be a first-year grad student in the fall.

Are student loans granted to grad students who carry credit card debt?
No worries. Because student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy and are (most often) guaranteed by Uncle Sam, lenders will loan you money based solely on your university's assessment of how much you need. They will not consider credit-worthiness or other factors that general lenders base their decisions upon.

I have received students loans even when I was carrying credit card debt approaching the six-figure mark, and again after filing for bankruptcy!
Reply:Taking a loan (yes every expenditure on credit card is a loan and has to be repaid with interest) and defaulting on repayments, doesn't go well with credit card agencies. When they find that a default on repayment has taken place, they increase the APR's, take back all rewards and slap late payment fees. This also doesn't goes well with the credit rating agencies. In order to defer student loan repayments, can I stay in school forever?

I have done the math, and the cost of attending community college part time, would be less than the interest on my student loans.

Here is an example of my situation: Upon graduating, the annual interest on my subsidized student loans will be about $1,500 per year. The cost of attending part time (6 hours) at a local junior college works out to about $1,000 per year after costs of books, fees, etc. So, I would save $500 per year by attending junior college and deferring my interest.

Now it gets even better…

I can deduct only $2,500 a year in student loan interest. Based upon my total outstanding loans, I will have much more than that from only my unsubsidized loans. So, I would get no tax deductions from paying the interest on my subsidized student loans. However, if I go to junior college, I could deduct my education expense.

Now, I am not planning on never paying back my student loans. I hope to work, go to JuCo and pay my loans at the same time.

If you're only in school part-time, your loans begin accruing interest.

Question about student loans?

Ok I am applying for student loans and found a great place. I know when you use your student loan you are paying for school related issues, books, computer, tuition and etc... I told my best friend about the loans I was getting and she said that financial aid paid everything for her and she applied for student loans also and used them for shopping, paying off her bills and etc. Isn't this wrong? Don't they want receipts and stuff to show what you spent the money on? Can't she get in trouble for paying off her credit card bills and other bills with a student loan? Thanks for your help

Question about student loans?
Nope, no receipts necessary. She just needs to remember that whatever loans she gets, she will have to pay back, with interest.
Reply:Tell your friend it's better to live like a student while you are a student rather than having to live like a student after she graduates due to high loan payments.
Reply:Student loans are supposed to be used for your school related expenses. However it is a loan that must be paid back and therefore you do not need to provide receipts of any kind. Be wise about student loans. While your friend may splurge her loan money on unnecessary items the truth is your first job out of college will not come with a lucrative six figure income. Student loans will need to start getting paid six months after graduation. Regardless of if you have the means to pay them back or not. Don't make the mistake she may be making. Instead borrow as little as possible and budget your money well. You will have less to pay back once you graduate.
Reply:Once you receive your student loan check, your first priority is to pay your tuition, books, dorm fees and any other expenses needed for college. The money that is left over is call a refund. Your refund can be used for whatever. Also, student loans carry a low interest rate. If you friend use the money to pay off her high rate interest credit cards, I would say that was smart move. But you also should remember that student loans are not grants, all monies borrowed must be paid back with interest. Student loans companies do not ask for receipts. But I encourged you to only borrow what you can afford.

After reaction, the student finds the mass of the contents of the tube to be 9.7g. Which one of the following describes these observations?

1)The decomposition of mercury (II) oxide does not obey the Law of Conservation of Mass.

Private student loan?

i already have financial aid and federal student loan from sallie mae. they give me total $3,500 for this fall 07 and spring 08. but i need more money to pay my car. can i use student loan for that? where can i get private student loan? do they track where the money goes? will it affect my financial aid and federal loan for next year?

Private student loan?
disabled,

First I recommend in not going to Gregory's website. His site is filled with google ads, meaning that if you click on one, he gets paid for that click. (cough...cough, opportunistic jerk, cough cough)

Now in answering your question, YES you can use student loans to pay off your car. Hence, essentially you can do anything with your loan. Although the loan originators would like you to use it on your school, but paying for your car that you use to get to school is related to "School" somewhat. :)

There are a lot of instutions that you can use to get private student loans. There is Bank of America, Citibank, THE and many many others. You may want to check with your undergrad on which one they have worked with the most. This is because they can streamline the process and you can start receiving your loans in the proper time.

Taking out a loan in 1 year, will not effect your loan next year, unless of course you went crazy and start overborrowing.

Hope this helps!

My student?

I teach Social Studies to seventh and ninth graders. I have a 12 year old student whom I've been observing for the last few months. She has some very odd behaviors, and is not an IPP (you call them IEP's in the states) student. These behaviors are slightly concerning.

For example, she doesn't seem to have a lot of friends, and doesn't seem to want to socialize much and often reacts oddly to the other children. Her conversations go in circles and lead no where. She seems much happier to play with her belongings than other children. She often seems to be lost in her own world.

She's very bright and has an excellent memory. She never forgets anything. Last week she drew a very detailed complex map of our large city, and when I compared it to the actual map, it looked like a photocopy.

Are these behaviors considered normal? In my decade of teaching experience, I've never had a student who behaved in this manner. Does anyone have any idea as to why she's behaving in this way?

My student?
I would not automatically assume Aspergers or Autism.

It sounds like she is gifted and maybe the "odd" behaviors are due to social anxiety / phobia which can be much more easily treated than the other disorders mentioned.

I think you should request a meeting with the appropriate counselor in your school and the girl's parents to discuss the behavior and possible psychological evaluations.
Reply:sounds like a mild case of "idiot savant" syndrome. Especially that detailed map-drawing bit. I would recommend her to the school counselor so they can evaluate her/help nourish her talents and cope with her social problems.
Reply:These are symptoms of autism.
Reply:You honestly can never really know. Perhaps you can call the parents and go over her behavior with them, perhaps they can give you a reason or a diagnosis of her odd behavior.

All children act different. You will sometimes come across more complex personalities once in a while.

I'm sorry I'm not of much help
Reply:Sounds like a case of autism. I suggest researching autism and match the symptoms.
Reply:Maybe it is not she who doesn't want to socialise with the children but other students do not want to talk to her. It maybe autism, but that is also due to her being shy in nature. try some ice-breaking games in the classroom to get the students to know more about one another. Or try to talk to her and find out what stress or problem she has. Well, if she is happy in this way, just let her be. A student who can enjoy and gets happy during lessons is the most important thing.
Reply:Whats happened shes matured and grown up too fast!

It happens! Luckily I've escaped that age this year!

Well back to her, she properly looks at other students and thinks their acting very childish (Which they normally are)

Just let her be shes fine. Also very bright!

If you really are concerned about her just ring her parents they may have a answer! I ring parents all the time I actually feel like a family friend! Ha ha

Have a nice Christmas!
Reply:She must be autistic. Most likely, she has Asperger's. They seem normal but there are a few things like lack of interaction with peers, highly intelligent, and a knowledge of useless facts.

I met a preschooler who didn't want to play with the other children or didn't want to be involved in group activities. So, she was put to be in charge of the school's new pet, Toby the bullfrog. She played with Toby everyday at school and continued with her learning. But soon, she started to open up to the other kids. Somehow, the frog taught her to open up. It was weird. I guess she was tired of talking to a frog that couldn't talk back and now she wanted feedback from someone or something. Children like her needs time and some help to open up. It's frustrating but it's worth it when they do.
Reply:Hmm.. my sister teaches autistic children, but they are around 5-9 years old. Yous daughters behavior sounds just like the kids my sister teaches. Autistic children often like to be alon, but they have a special gift some with math, or some with memory like your daughter. I hope she doesnt have it. It usually is more susceptible to boys, but some rare cases show it in girls. I dont know though you should see a physician, autism is usually diagnosed in the early years of childhood, your daughter is 12 so, maybe shes just a late bloomer or shy. Good luck!
Reply:um autism maybe but get her involved anyways
Reply:"The thing is that some of the times some of the smarter kids seem to be a little more shy and like to keep things to themselves because some think that if they get mixed in with someone with lower gpa's or dont focus as much as them they will begin to lose there gpa's and there good grade's

and the things with the conversations going nowhere is that most of the students cant keep up with her developing vocabulary so she ends up spending more time going in circles explaining herself instead of having a real conversation with the other student's".
Reply:The conversational skills are concerning, it kind of sounds like Aspberger's syndrome. In my experience of teaching, because it is a communication issue, speech therapist/ pathologists know a lot more about this syndrome. Maybe ask if he or she can informally observe this student, and see if it is severe enough to warrant any Big concern.

Usually an IEP is only written if the disorder affects the student's progress in the academic classroom.
Reply:get her involved in the arts.

Private student loans to move out of my parent's house?

Hi. I'm looking for information on private student loans. My main issue is that the loan will be strictly for living expenses, not tuition or books. My mother is willing to pay for my tuition and books but she is not willing to co-sign my loan and we can no longer live in the same house. I need a private loan to pay moving expenses (first, last and security, phone, electricity and internet deposits) plus future living expenses (food, gas, rent, etc). My credit is at least good, maybe excellent due to a previous student loan that was paid off (always on time). I am not currently employed since I am a half-time to full-time student (depending on the semester). So far I am clueless on loans even though I have read many bank loan website faqs. Any and all advice appreciated (except recommending your personal loans - no ty, I want a well known trusted bank). If you can foresee any difficulties for me, have any advice, etc, it will be much appreciated. I don't want to get screwed on interest

Private student loans to move out of my parent's house?
I would recommend that you first apply for a federal student loan. These loans do not require co-signer or credit checks, and have very low interest rates and very leniant repayment terms. A federal student loan is very limited though, and therefore will definitely not cover all the expenses you have described. This is where the private loan comes in.

You can pretty much apply for a private education loan through any major bank (Citibank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America), so you might want to first check with the bank that you currently bank with. Just complete the application, they will check your credit and let you know of any other required documents, then make you an offer of the amount and interest rate you are approved for. Then, they will need to request your school to certify the loan. This means that the school verifies that you are enrolled in the minimum number of units and that your awards do not exceed your schools estimated cost of attendance.

Other than banks, you can check with lending companies such as Sallie Mae, Nelnet, or The Education Resource Institute (TERI).
Reply:There are many student loans you can take out. The Signature Loan through salliemae.com is probably the most common. You can request an amount, and they will give you up to that amount, depending on how well you qualify. However, if you do have a cosigner, the interest is lower and you can get a lot more money. You just have to apply, get approved, and sign the promissory note. Then the loan company contacts the school for certification. Once the loan has been certified, it will go into your account. At that point, you just get a refund from the school, and you can use that money for whatever you want.

If you need the money fast, you should apply asap as it can take some time, depending on the school.

International Student, married U.S. citizen, lost student status (Out-Of-Status), how to apply for Residency?

I came to the U.S. as an International Student. I married my husband, a U.S. citizen and then lost my student status (so I am Out-Of-Status), I wish to apply for a Permament Resident Visa, what paperwork must I file? what forms should I file? should I seek legal assistance for being Out-Of-Status? Is there a different procedure, form, fee, fine, for being out of status? if there is, does it matter how long have I been out-of-status? the longer i have been out of status, the greater the fine, fee, etc.? What are some "normal, regular" lawyer fees for this kind of case? Please help if you are an immigration lawyer, and actually know what you are talking about. Or if you just recently wnet through the same situation, and know exactly what to do! thank you!

International Student, married U.S. citizen, lost student status (Out-Of-Status), how to apply for Residency?
I-130 Petition for Alien Relative $190

I-131 Application for Travel Permit $170

I-485 Application for permanent Residence $325 (+$70 for biometrics)

Supplement A to Form I-485 Adjustment of Status Under Section 245(i) $1000

I-765 Application for Employment Authorization $180

Note: the I-485 supplement should cover you for being out of status but I don't think it is neccesary; see last paragraph below:

"Section 245(i) of the Act allows certain aliens to file for adjustment of status upon payment of a penalty fee of $1,000, even thoughsome of the conditions required by section 245(a) and (c) of the Act are not met. Aliens in the United States who have animmigrant visa immediately available, but who entered the United States without inspection, remained in the United Statespast the period of admission, worked unlawfully, or are otherwise ineligible for adjustment of status under section 245(c) ofthe Act must submit this form along with Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

NOTE: If you are applying to adjust as the SPOUSE or unmarried minor child OF A U.S. CITIZEN or the parent of a U.S. citizen child atleast 21 years of age, and if you were inspected and lawfully admitted to the United States other than in C-1 or S non immigrantstatus, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILE THIS FORM.
Reply:you are now illegal, contact an immigration lawyer, they will fill the forms out for you, then wait, it should take about 2 years before they will respond with your first appointment at the consulate, when that happens you must report to your country of origin and wait in that country about 6mos - 1 year for them to have you go to the 2nd appointment. They will either approve you or not, if they do then you will be given a date to report for them to stamp your passport with a temporary Resident stamp. Then the greencard would come in the mail (to the US) in about 4 mos. Good luck.
Reply:Get a sponcer.
Reply:You got married before you lost your status? You may need a lawyer at this point. It may be that since you were married while still a student you can normalize things by having your husband file a change of status, but it may also be that since he's filing now while you don't have legal status he can't do that. I think it's risky going without a lawyer at this point.
Reply:Your husband needs to file the I-130 visa petition for you. There is currently a 190.00 fee to file this form. It is realtively easy just make sure you attach all documents they ask for. Once your I-130 has been approved, USCIS will send affidavit of support and some other forms for your husband to fill out, there will be an additional fee to pay as well. Once all forms have been received and are approved you will be scheduled for an interview here in the U.S. You will also have to do a medical exam, security clearance, and fingerprint check. Once you have had your interview and all other checks come through clean and clear you will receive your green card in the mail. Process can take some time to complete but at least you will get to remain in the U.S. Good luck to you hon and if you need anything else feel free to email me.
Reply:dear email me with you MSN or yahoo mess you need to go to INS website first but i have been thru this with my ex wife which was from brazil and out of status doesnt matter if you are student or not
Reply:The procedures that the other people listed are correct to apply for an adjustment of status to gain permanent residency.

Unfortunately, you CANNOT ADJUST YOUR STATUS FROM A STUDENT VISA. The terms of your student visa require that you return to your home country when your visa expires. Technically, you cannot adjust status to permanent resident status after being on a student visa, even through marriage to a citizen. Sometimes, if you let a letter from your government stating your home country does not oppose it, then the US will let you adjust your status. However, if you're from a country with high immigration rates (especially illegal immigration) like Mexico, it is extremely difficult to do this. And you will be sent back to your home country. Depending on how long you have been out of status, you will be banned from coming back to the US for 1, 5 or 10 years. After this period has expired, your US spouse can petition to get you back to the US.
Reply:Hi,

I was an international student on F-1 visa before. And I'm married to an American citizen and I filed the petition for Adjustment of Status (AOS) in 2004.

When I filed the petition for AOS, I was already out of status. I thought I needed to pay the penalty fee which was $1000 dollars back then. But when I called the USCIS National Customer Service Center, the representative told me that I was out of status but that didn't mean that I stayed here illegally because I entered the US as a F-1 student, which means I entered the US leagally and I was in the middle of filing the petition for AOS so even though I was out of status, that didn't mean that I was here illegally. I actually asked the same question to an immigrataion lawyer and he told me the same thing.

But how long have you been out of status?( I was out of status for a couple of weeks) If you've been out of status more than 6 months, that might be a problem. If you are out of status that long, you should find an immigration lawyer. Just use Yellow Pages and find an immigration lawyer under Immigration Services.

And the forms and fees that you need are on the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website which is here:http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

And you can find the information about green card or AOS at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m...

And if you have AOS questions, Visa Journey.Com really helps. So I'm going to link that website for you:http://visajourney.com/forums/index.php?...

This website shows example forms and really has helpful information so use this website :)
Reply:Your case is simple and there is nothing to be afraid off.

You entered legally - married and fall out of status. By current laws you can adjust status while in US and your overstay is forgiven automatically. Yo need to file I-130, I-485, I-485A, and I-765 for work authorization.

Good chance, Immigration officer wouldnt care at all about your overstay (if its not 10 years), and may be I-485A would be required. So I can recommend do not file it(Since it has a 1000 fee associated with that), but bring it to the interview together with chack for 1000$( in the case they will make a deal out of that).

Beware of: Do not leave this country, without GC in hand. You are forgiven overstay if you are still in US. Once you leave, you will impose 3to 10 years overstay ban, and it would be completely different story. Even after application For GC, and getting andvanced parole, yo are still subject to overstay ban.

Comment: dont use a lawer, do most of research yourself. There are great help immigration sites, Just spent couple hours on internet.

Lawers are bad for several reasons. They cost about 6-10 thousand dollars. For this money they resolve only straightforward case, something that you can do yourself. A lot of times they mess things up, and its difficult to use them accountable for that.

The only use of lawer recommended is complicated case, with lawer who has expertise there (its actually difficult to find one, takes longer then do your research).

Fixed-rate student loan?

I'm a dirt broke college student who is looking to find a student loan that doesn't doom my future to financial crises. not consolidating yet, but i have already received the benefits from the fafsa. If there are any good ideas, i would love to hear them. i have a virtually unestablished credit rating, and will not have a cosigner. All the credit places i go to just shove a 0%intro. card in my face. I'm a finance major, so you dont have to dumb-down any answers. Thanks!

Fixed-rate student loan?
Well when I got my student loan I didn't have any interest while in college. My interest started 6 months after graduating. I don't know if they are doing loans differently now or not, but everyone that got a student loan got it through the government and this was the policy as long as you kept a certain amount of credit hours each semester. When I got close to graduating, several companies started sending me information to consolidate. They all wanted my loan. I locked in at 3.25%. The only advice I can give you is don't take out money that you don't need. I didn't take out money unless I needed it. I worked and paid what I could. A lot of my friends, took money out and paid rent and bought things they really didn't need and I'm sure are paying for it today. By not doing this, you will have a lower payment after graduating. You really have to consider how much you want to pay for the next 10-20 years. You're a finance major so you know how to be smart with your money. Just take the loan that the university gives you and you can consolidate later with any company of your choice.
Reply:Student loans are available with a wide range of lenders. Many students are finding themselves tough while going for a higher education. The flagrant cost of the higher education is one of main factors that are impeding the chances of your higher education. Since, education is the sole and one of the important tools for your personal development; it can not be ignored-all.To help you payingefficiently the huge cost of the higher%26lt;!-- education, now, student loans have been made into provision. You can avail these loans to meet the cost of your tuition fees as well as paying off other bills related to your education. You may be helped from the government agencies as well as from private players.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student...

From among the private lenders, the online lenders are those one that are known for the simple and fast processing. You can contact a number of such lenders online with their different loan quotes. An online method helps you negotiate for the best deal out of the available--%26gt;options and also make your approval faster. Students can obtain the education loans either with secured or unsecured form. Secured loans require pledging of an asset from the borrowers. Whereas, unsecured form has nothing such obligation. The secured form has a lower interest rate, whereas, with the unsecured one, it is somewhat higher.
Reply:I would suggest toughing it out and continue to be the typical "dirt broke" college student. Without a cosigner or good credit your loan options are limited and if you have borrowed Stafford already then you have reaped all the benefits of the gov programs. Work hard on applying for merit scholarships (from your school).

I would suggest getting a job or increasing your hours if you have one already. If that doesn't help, id suggest a cheaper school or cheaper living accommodations, sell the car, toss the cell phone, whatever you can do to cut expenses.

I would also really, really, really, think long and hard before you consolidate your loans and read all the fine print. Because what they DON'T tell you about consolidating is that you loose all the federal benefits of having government loans when you consolidate. (Like mandatory deferments, fixed interest rates, the ability to have your loans forgiven if you die or become disabled or if the school closes).

With consolidation you pay more in the long run. Sure the payments might be less, (and even the interest may be a smidge less) but your new loans are now on a 25 year payment plan instead of 10 and you will pay twice as much in the long run. They also promote these programs by saying, "make one payment". But folks don't realize that if all your loans are federal loans you WILL make one payment, even if you have 8 or 9 loans (like I did) you still send in one payment and they automatically distribute your payments in the appropriate amounts to each loan.

If you look on your credit record after graduating all 8 or 9 federal loans will be listed. If you consolidate, you will have an additional loan listed on your credit record.
Reply:A really good one is,

Student Finance?

What is the cut-off date for applying for student finance with the Student Loans Company, if I want to recieve payment when my course begins (Sept '08)?

I'm a uk student studying in the uk. thanks.

Student Finance?
There are two sources for student loans -- the federal government and private lenders. In order to obtain most federal student loans, you will first need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In most%26lt;!--instances the FAFSA is required for all federal financial aid including federal student loans. Deferment options are available while you are still attending school at least half-time. There are four main federal loan programs.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student...

Federal loan consolidation is for students who are in repayment status or parents who wish to extend the repayment period on their current PLUS and obtain a fixed interest rate for the life of the loan--%26gt;you can combine all of your eligible federal student loans into one loan with a Federal Consolidation Loan. Consolidating also locks the interest rate you pay on your loan.

Questions about Host Japanese student?

I get to host Japanese student in less than 30 days but I am curious about their requests.

1. I have Grim Reaper (Real-life appearance) hangs on the ceiling in my room... should I take it down while the student in my house for a week?

I just don't want to disrespect their cultures by "death" in my room.

2. What do u think student want to do in Maryland for a week? Video game? Restaurant? Comic Shop? Or whatever do u think it's would be fun for my student?

3. What kind of meal do u think student want to taste the mostly in America?

4. Any advices for me to host Japanese student would be very appreciated. Please? =)

Questions about Host Japanese student?
Have hosted several Japanese over the past 23 years and will have my friend back for a month this summer.. You might want to take down the reaper... Show them the sites, shopping is a usual thing they want to do. they want to do the same teenage things you do... As for a meal... they eat lots of fruits and veggies.. not a lot of beef.. mostly chicken/seafood... Just be your self... talk slow, they are sometimes timid in speaking because they feel they will not pronounce the words right.. so they listen how you say things. Don't be afraid to ask what they want to do or eat. Explain if is OK to help themselves to anything in the fridge... Explain about the shower... Japanese take hot bath... explain to keep the shower curtain in the tub and wash in the tub... I ended up with a wet floor with a student one time.

Good luck and enjoy learning about there culture.. :):):) a lot..
Reply:1. It's one thing to be careful about what you say and do around someone from a different culture, but you don't want to be extreme. The best way to make your guest feel welcome is to first get to know a bit about them.

If you really can't talk to him, take it down just to be safe. It doesn't hurt.

2. This kid is probably coming to America so that he can experience American culture. Ask him what he likes already, and then think about what popular things in America are similar. The person will probably be interested if you took him or her to:

-an American movie that is like something he or she would want to see (action, drama, etc.)

-your own friends

-public transportation

-any place that the person will probably enjoy (theater, arcade, etc.) Since he or she is in America, it's foreign, and therefore probably new.

-if video games is what he or she is interested in, then American video games should be a great thing to show

3. Why go to another country to eat food that you would usually eat back home? Still, ask the person what they want to eat. He might eat alot of traditional Japanese food and want to try different things. It might be the other way around. Maybe they want to see what Japanese food is like in America. It's all about what he wants, and what you can do.

4. They might not be so confident about their English. Annunciate talk a bit slower than you normally would. Just a bit slower. Be aware of what you say and do, be interesting nonetheless, and of course, be open minded. =)

*I'm assuming it's a male since that's what the usual policy with exchange students is that they have to be the same gender as their hosts.

Have fun!
Reply:When we hosted a student from France, her wish was to live as we did. She did not want any special consideration which was difficult because we wanted her to feel like a guest .

Make sure there is a variety of foods and snacks in case he doesn't like something and is too polite to say so.

I would take down the grim reaper for his stay!

I made sure our student visited our local grocery story, department store and library as well as the tourist spots in Chicago. If she seemed unsure or at a loss as to what to do, I involved her in whatever chore I was doing and she was happy to be doing something. And she was able to ask more questions about how we did things in our family if she was involved in them.

I think that involving exchange students in the everyday aspect our lives as well as the larger scale of our politics, culture and area attractions gives them a better feel for what we are like.

And I can't wait to see her again someday- she is a wonderful young lady!
Reply:fist off i live in MD too and i take japanese. Japanese teens are just like us. there skaters, jocks, nerds, whatever. he won't care about the reaper in your room. if it's just there cause it's cool he'll think it's cool, unless your goth that might scare him, that would scare me. if he speaks english ask him what foods he wants to try. if you want to talk to him in japanese, email me.

2. Probably wants to see the sights and have some fun, so yeah whatever you think might be fun, but check with them to see if there's anything they really wanted to do

3. Honestly I don't think it matter's what you feed them as they have american food over there as we have japanese here

4. Make them as comfortable as possible, Honestly from what I could tell they will eat whatever

Student teacher dealing with tattling....can you recommend a book or some ideas?

I am student teaching and my second graders are HUGE tattlers! They tell on every little thing other people do. I have decided, along with the classroom teacher, to make "Tattling Teddy". We are going to have a teddy bear next to a box and if the students need to tell us something they write it and put it in the box. Teddy will "tell" us what the student's put in their every night. Does anyone have a good book title on this topic or have any helpful adivce they think would cut down on all the tattling in the classroom? Thanks in advance! :-)

Student teacher dealing with tattling....can you recommend a book or some ideas?
I teach 3rd grade and tattling is definitely a problem. The "Tattling Teddy" is a good idea. I also have my students write a note when they want to tattle. I don't read it to the class, however, as it gives them incentive to write more so than can hear it read to the class. I also require them to write in complete sentences and with correct spelling and punctuation. Any notes not written correctly are thrown away. Because of this, many of my students don't bother. Good luck.
Reply:I reccomend the book Positive Discipline, an A-Z Teachers' Guide; by Jane Nelsen.

Personally, I teach my students the difference between tattling and asking for help. I tell them that they are tattling if they are telling me about something that doesn't involve them personally, or are telling me because they want the other child to get in trouble. If they have an issue with another child that they think I can help them solve without getting anyone in trouble, it's fine to tell me about that.
Reply:Peaceful Procedures is a class for teachers and I think you can get the book online, but we learned to teach the students there are 2 different things: 1) reporting, and that is telling something the adult really needs to know and 2) tattling, and that is not necessary, So when the kids come to you, stop them and say "are you reporting or tattling ?" and you should do role play with this so they can learn what it really means. then if you have a kid who just talks to you too much, get some raffle tickets and give them like 3-5 and tell them that each time they talk to you they have to give you a ticket. When there tickets are gone, they cannot talk to you no matter what. They soon learn to only talk to you when they really need to.

Student doctors?

Not there's qualified GP's but I heard there is also student ones that actually also help real patients and if there is I was thinking whenever a person is sick or so on he or she could go to a student GP, where are they more likely to be found? and in Australia? if so, because If I went to a student GP rather than a fully qualified one I'd be helping future GP's as they reinforce their skills before stepping into the real world

Student doctors?
I'm an Australian student doctor...

I'm not clear what you're asking though. Please rephrase.
Reply:Not sure about Australia but here, they normally work under a consultant of qualified GP and yes you would be helping them but you also have the right to say no.

Student Council election?

I'm running for student body president at my high school. I have 3 opponents and it's going to be a very close race. Tell me if you consider this dirty politics: I told a few voters that when one of my opponent was student body president at our middle school, the student council fund was depleted and if they voted for my opponent, that would be the kind of leadership you could expect from her.

My opponent and friend was so angry with me when she received word of this even though I didn't accuse her of any wrongdoing and even though what I said was true as far as the depletion of the fund goes.

I am very sorry that she was hurt by this but I don't exactly see the wrongness of my action.

Do you think what I did was wrong?

Student Council election?
I think that what you did was perfectly acceptable. You are going to have to grow tougher skin if you want to hold any position of leadership. Yeah, if what you said was true, you are completely okay when you say it. Sometimes when you run for office people's toes get stepped on. Oh well, life goes on.
Reply:It's wrong, but you can't win an election if you play fair.
Reply:I do because what you said insinuates that it was directly related to her performance as president, as though she was the guilty party.
Reply:It's wrong, but you can't win an election if you play fair. It's no big deal

Student Council?

I want to join student council but i had a few questions. Like how many people can be in Student Council? And If you join student council do you have to run for president or treasurer? Please help! Thanks.

Student Council?
It varies by school. But I'm sure that most schools won't force you to run for President or Treasurer. You can most likely just be a member/ rep. In our school, there is one rep from each homeroom and one substitute rep. You should either talk to your homeroom teacher or your counselor about this. They'll help you with all the info you need.
Reply:Ask your school counselor. I think it varies from school to school.
Reply:you have fun doing that
Reply:well it all depends on what school u go to in my school, we have a treasurer that we pick at the end of each year and a homeroom rep for each class but from the way that u put it u can probably run for either or it just depends do u want to b the leader of everyone or do u want to do a little less work that involves student council??? I hope that i helped u lizzie.

Reply:It depends on you school. I know when I was in High School I was a Homeroom Representative, since I didn't want to run for President or anything like that.

Student Cheating...?

While taking a test (college), I realized that this student was cheating. I mean I didn't have time to study so I am pretty sure I did bad. Should I tell the professor or not?

If you were that student cheating and you thought the professor might think you were or thought someone told on you, would you confess before she asked you or just wait till she asked you? If you confess what would you say or what would someone say if she asked them?

Please be through. I am just wondering what I should do ... tell or not ... how ... will the student confess to it or not when questioned!

Student Cheating...?
i wouldn't tell because that student will get his in the long run but if u decided that u want to tell then do it by writing a note with no name on it so he want shoot u through the cross but me personally wouldn't tell because i don't tell on people i would let them get what is coming to them. if it was me i would confess before the professor know that i did cheat and i would ask him/her could they give me another test so i would be able take up another test. i hope this helps you good luck!!
Reply:Please don't do that. If u do that he'll be dismissed from the college and he can't go to any other college eighter. Is that what u want? Don't think so...
Reply:Would you want somebody to snitch on you?
Reply:Don't be a tattle-tale. That student may be under a lot of pressure; you never know a person's situation. He will be found out sooner or later. LEAVE HIM ALONE!
Reply:no...being a snitch is worse then getting a bad grade on one test...
Reply:You are in college now..that is life people cheat...on more than just tests..thats life...it is not right...but that's life. Grow up and stop snitching on everyone..
Reply:Write an anonymous note to the teacher. The student will lie until they're blue in the face, but the teacher will know if they are lying or not.

Student loans, federal to cover private?

I have returned to school persuing an engineering degree. I took out a private student loan to cover housing four years ago and deferment is over. Since I am in school and federal student loans can be defered as long as I am enrolled half time, should I take a federal loan out to cover the private student loan so I don't have to pay while in school? Money is tight since I don't work full time. I really don't want to pay another bill while in school, I have enough to worry about now.

Student loans, federal to cover private?
Don't do it. Private loans can't come after u taxes and some can be discharged with bankruptcy, but Federal loans can garnish your check and take your tax return if you are unable to pay them.

Student Loans-Private Signature.?

Private Student Loans, in particular, the Signature Student loans serviced by Sallie Mae. I am well aware of the nature of Sallie Mae. They are the classic "have your cake and eat it too", and subsidized loan sharks.

However, are there deferments due to unemployment, low income etc? Or, do they just hassle and threaten you for a good while, then write them off? Bear in mind, I'm talking about someone who has no assets. i.e. home, boats, late model cars, motorcycles or the like. Someone whose income is variable, nothing to a something from week to week.

These loans intitiated from around 6 to 8 years ago, and where in deferment while in school, yet they list them as bad accounts on a credit report, unlike Stafford loans, which are listed in good standing. Private student loans are in a grey area, which the lender can play by whatever rules they wish, they are getting paid no matter what.

Student Loans-Private Signature.?
sallie mae is NOT a good lender. They will not let u consolidate ur loans like others do.. When I had a loan thru them (years ago), u could defer payments and I am sure they probably still do that.. They will NEVER write it off unless u become disabled. If he has missed one payment it will be listed as bad accounts...the thing with Private loans is they can charge u as much interest as u want and ur stuck.. they will probably take him to court and get so much of the income he does rec. They can also keep his taxes until he's caught up... Stafford loans lenders are much more understanding and lenient (sallie mae is the exception)

If you were a student at a Church that offered theology classes can you file for the Earned Income Credit?

Does anyone know, if you are a student and was a dependent on someone taxes can they file you as a student on their taxes if you took theology classes for 6mos at a Church. Can you check the box on your taxes for a student in school for the 2006 tax year, the person is 23 years old. The IRS want proof that I was a student and I was. What makes you considered to be a full time student, because now they say you have to be full time. I was a student for 6 months? Thanks

If you were a student at a Church that offered theology classes can you file for the Earned Income Credit?
If you were a student for five months at a qualified institution of higher education, then you are considered a full-time student for IRS purposes. If you are under age 24, then you could be a qualifying child for purposes of the EIC.

An institution is qualified if it has a regular teaching staff, course of study, and a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance. Any educational institution that qualifies for federal financial aid would do, but it is not necessary.

Provide documentation that you attended a bona fide school, by your school records, school catalog, etc.

The fact that the school teaches theology is not an issue. If you took theology classes at a church, it would have to have a teaching staff and a curriculum. My guess is this is the issue for the IRS.
Reply:If you are a dependent yourself, you CANNOT claim the EIC. And if you are under 24, single and have no qualifying dependents, you CANNOT claim the EIC even if you aren't the dependent of another taxpayer.

Reply:what kind of charges are on your cedit card? are they for school, like books, semester fees, etc? Then no, it would be illegal to get student loans to pay for anything other than for college. Government student loans weren't meant to pay for everything, and there's a limit to what you can get, so don't ask till you really need it or you won't be able to complete college on what they give you. Remember that if things go wrong in the repayment an offsets of student loans then you can be paying for them until you're 120 years old, with "interest" of course, and that will hold you back from your career.
Reply:If you plan to pay back the money , you can ask for a loan at Prosper. More information at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/prosper.ht... . You can also try your luck at online charities, people may send donations. More information at http://www.laodn.org/
Reply:If you are using your credit card for living expenses while in college, you'd be better off taking out a private student loan for those. The interest will likely be lower than a credit card, and you don't make any payments until after you graduate.

There are a couple of places you might try...

Chase Bank has a private student loan option, http://www.usadegrees.com/chase/

My favorite is http://www.studentloanadvisors.com really fast answers, no cost to apply, get money sent directly to you in about a week. there is an easy online request form that doesn't require personal info
Reply:The best type of student loan to get would be a federal student loan. Here are the steps you need to take to get one:

1) Fill out the FAFSA. This will determine if you are eligible for financial aid. Go here:

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

2) Once you are eligible for aid, choose a government-based student loan. The best loan to get is a Federal Perkins Loan. These have low interest rates and the government will help you pay it back as long as you stay enrolled in school. You also don't need a cosigner or good credit for it. For more info go here:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

3) The next best loan to get is a Subsidized Stafford Loan. This has many of the same benefits as a Perkins Loan. Learn more here:

http://www.studentfinancedomain.com/stud...

4) You can also try to get a grant or scholarship, which is free money that you won't have to pay back. You can read about them here:

Reply:you cant get a student loan to pay off your credit card unless you used the credit card on tuition and even then i dont think you can do that....you would need to take out a regular loan
Reply:Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school.A bad credit%26lt;!--student loan is payable only after the student has completed his or her education, and has started earning a certain minimum amount. You can find more information on Student Loan here,

http://badcredits.awardspace.com/student...

The minimum amount that the candidate of the bad credit student loan is required to earn has also increased. Bad credit student loans are available as both secured and unsecured loans--%26gt;depending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.

Student finance question, please help (Worried)?

So basicly, i was on a course that i really didnt like, so i decided to stop attending....

My student loan still got paid into my account.

Now i will be starting a new course in september and i am wondering will dropping out of course and getting loan paid to me affect my chance of getting my student loan?

I am a student in the uk, btw.

Student finance question, please help (Worried)?
Usually you have to carry a full load of courses to get your financial aid disbursement. Also, in the US I believe that you can't have below a certain grade point average. Dropping a course would mean that one isn't making adequate process toward a degree. You'll still be responsible for paying back your loan. Not to make you panic, but taking a student loan when one is not a student constitutes fraud. I'd contact the loan officers at your school. There may be a way to take care of it. It may mean that you'll have to pay the original loan back, or they may not give you a loan this time.. Good luck.

Student loans?

Schools offer student loans to those who need hlep with schooling..

Well I get some finacial aid and the rest i have to pay with student loans...

Then you get the six percetn interest rate and dont have to payt until six months after you graduate.

So where after you graduate and want to get a loan will you find this low intrest rate? NO WHERE.

So is it a good idea to just get the max student loan available now and just save it for future use...

Or no

Student loans?
As someone who once used your logic to justify borrowing lots of money, and is now paying it off, let me say don't do this. This is a bad idea for the following reasons:

1) If the government/lender is charging 6.8%, and you have the money in an online, high-yield savings account earning 5%, you're still loosing money.

2) You won't save the money. No one would. It would be spent on this little thing, or that "emergency" or something else.

3) You're adding risk without any reward. The risks are that you accidentally forget a payment, that you spend the money, that you don't have a job when repayment comes, etc. If you're going to take those kind of risks you should be making money for your effort.

There are 0% interest loans. They're when you pay for something with cash.

There are negative interest loans. They're when you save up money in a savings account.

Reply:What is your question? If SLMA is offering 6% then thats what you pay. After you stop going to school either by dropping out, or graduating, you will have to start paying your loan off. They will not make you get a loan to pay it off, they will carry the debt for you at 6% or what ever their rate is which is usually pretty low. An additional bonus is that if your not working or can prove that the payment will be a burden, you can ask for a short grace period with no payments so you can get on your feet. You cannot get that from any lending institution. Get the maximum you can from SLMA for each school year and use it. There will be some residual balances left between what the loan payout for the quarter is and what the school is charging. You will be responsible for that. Books you usually have to pay out of pocket as the SLMA funds are long gone by then for tuition. It all depends on the school and how much they charge per credit hour. Your have to take at least two courses per quarter if you get the Student Loan. If your getting poor info or no info from your schools lending officer, go to someone else who knows what they are talking about.

Student record using c++???

I need a program that gets the data of 5 students and puts it in a record named "student" that contains: INT id, CHAR * name, FLOAT average..and then stores them in a file.the output of the program should be the list of the students.

Student record using c++???
I guess that's why you take the course.

You have to define a new type or class for your record format, create a small write function for it and finally call that function from main to write the 5 records.
Reply:Don't be lazy. Read your programming book and figure it out. In one file, write a class for the student record. Add a "toString" method that creates a string that has the student info. In another file, you'll need a loop in the main program that can iterate 5 times, each time creating a new student record. You can "get the data" using "cin" to read from the command line and put each item into the appropriate field of the data type. Open a file and write the record string out to it.

Student kept on saying Napolean needs to "Step His Game Up." Any definitions?

My class at HS #342 in the Upper East Side had a discussion the other day about the Napoleonic Wars...It was very heated with some students acting out some of Napoleon Bonaparte's famous speeches to his troops which quickly turned into a debate. Well suffice to say one student was upset about Napolean's bonehead move to take on the British at Waterloo...Sorry for all the backgound, but one student keep saying "that Napolean needs to Step his Game up" not once but about 5 times, sometimes he'd say "Step your game up" or "step it up" i think it has something to do with the strange uniforms that the French wore, well at least the boots...any ideas? I dont like going into class clueless!

He would also yell out "S-Y-G-U!!!"

Student kept on saying Napolean needs to "Step His Game Up." Any definitions?
I hear slang from my middle school kids at church and it can be a challenge to understand the new phrase of the week. When I last checked "step up" was similar to "take it to the next level" or simply "try harder."

It probably comes from sayings like "step up to the challenge" where you will have to work hard, do your best and perform well. It can be found in sports, as in "you need to step up your performance," or simplified to "step up your game!"

So in your student's opinion if Napoleon had stepped his game up he would have planned better and not gone after the British at Waterloo.

Although by the time someone reads this it could now mean Napoleon should have worn heels to look taller.
Reply:hehe, funny...
Reply:stepping it up means........give more of yourself!! be stronger, give it all you got!! : )

Student in a dancing class are spaced evenly around a circle and are then counted consecutively?

from one student to #20 is opposite student #53. How many students are there in the group?

Student in a dancing class are spaced evenly around a circle and are then counted consecutively?
If I start to count from #20 instead of #1 than #20 become #1 (let's call her #1') and #53 becomes #34'.

To make thing clearer if #34' faces #1' than #33' has to face the student before #1' which is labelled #N' where N is the number of students.

It is easy to realize that N has to be even (otherwise all the "facing" part wouldn't make sense), if you think a bit you will also realize that N = 2 * 33 = 66

Here is a simple diagram with only 8 students that should give you a bit of insight:

1 2 3

8 + 4

7 6 5

#1 is facing #5, before #5 there is #4; the total number of students is 8 = 2*4
Reply:my answer is...

72 students...

Student Council?

I am signing up for Student Council this year. I got all of my teachers to sign my reconmendation paper and write my grade. All i need to do is write why i want to be in Student Council. i dont know where to start, or how to put it. All i know is that i am a good leader. so ca u help me out?

---Why do you want to represent your class on the 2008-2009 Student Council?

Thanks

Student Council?
How about putting what is that you want to do for your fellow students?
Reply:Being a good leader doesn't seem like a good enough reason to want to be in student council. If someone told you to run a crap factory, just because you're a good leader, would you do it?

Do you care about your school? Do you want to improve student life? Do you want to represent the student body? Do you have ideas to improve school spirit? Try some of those.

Student Teacher Relationships?

Hi!

I'm having a debate with my friend over student teacher relationships

What's the criteria to be acceptable

Does the student have to be 18 and over or graduated?

And what about students and teachers from different schools?

Do the same rules apply?

And I'm talking about like a 24-25 year old teacher not 40 haha.

Thanks in advance!

Student Teacher Relationships?
Student teacher teacher relationships should remain professional, period.
Reply:well when ur 18 u act as ur own adult so i think it wont matter just act civilized infront of school property while in school.
Reply:The student must be at least 18 and not a current student of the teacher's. However, even if it is a former student, the relationship will still be frowned upon by others.

If it is a current student of the teacher's, it is ethically wrong on the teacher's part because that teacher is in a position of power over that student.
Reply:Never ever acceptable. It is sexual harassment and rape cases waiting to happen. It is also morally skewed. Not to mention, someone ends up getting hurt.

sorry but some lines should not be crossed
Reply:Well, if you decide right away you want to be a teacher, you can start when you graduate high school- call it 18

Then you have a four year program at university- we're now 22.

Then there's the student teaching year, there's the probably substitute teaching year... say 24 at that point...

So it's possible that you could find a 24-year old whose adult life you can ruin by entering into a relationship with (and make no mistake, if he is caught, he is FINISHED!).

For his sake and yours, I hope you resist. Period.

Student Loan related questions?

I need a $5,000 private student loan for this years school. I had my federal loan/grant money revoked because I took more than required credits to graduate.

It's my fault because I changed majors in the middle so I had to take completely different prerequisites.

So, my FICO score according to Transunion is 537. I have 2 credit cards in collection. I'm working on that.

My moms credit is really good though. Should I apply for a private student loan and have my mom cosign or is there a student loan she, the parent, can apply for and I be the cosigner?

Can you recommend any companies other than: AES, Sallie Mae, Campusdoor, or Astrive?

Student Loan related questions?
Nothing is wrong with taking out a $5,000 loan. You probably wont qualify for a PLUS Loan or any federal loan since you were on schlolarship. My only advice to you is take out a private loan thru Sallie Mae, stay away from atrive, Campusdoor, or banks they are usually third party lenders. You definately can't cosigned any loans, since you credit is bad. Probably the only solution is to borrowed the $5,000 from parents or take a private loan through sallie mae and have your mom co-signed for you. You are fully responsible for the loan once you graduate.
Reply:If you already have two credit cards in collections please DO NOT apply for another credit based product be it a private student loan or another credit card. What you should be concerned about is have a local, professional financial advisor not act on your behalf, but teach you the steps you need to take to fix your problem with your current low score of 537 and 2 cards in collection.

Regarding the $5,000 loan, you should really consider a part time job instead. If you blogged on yahoo's platform to earn money, or elsewhere, there are ways to earn money on-line. I hate to bring this news as it's not what you want to hear, but you're headed for financial ruin. Fix that first once educated. Start be reading the Federal Trade Commission's page on rights, listed below... Good luck to you.
Reply:your mom can apply for a direct parent plus loan through the federal government.
