Student loan help...?

I am going to be attending college in the fall, I am a transfer student to a RN program (I am an LPN). I have applied for the Pell Grant and scholarships. My EFC is 70.I really need a dependable car and I was wondering if I got a student loan if I could buy a car with a student loan? If so, which kind of loan?

- I am not sure what my credit score is, although I have a credit card and have had it for about a year and have it completely paid off with a limit of $1000

- I currently don't work, but i have about $4000 in savings and plan on working part time when I am licensed.

- What loan is best for my situation?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Student loan help...?
Private student loans give you the option of using the money for whatever you want. The check is sent directly to you unlike federal loans which send the check to the school.

The best thing to do is compare the different private lenders out there, which can be done at http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestude...

Most of the rates are very similar but do a little research and pick one that you think is best. I would suggest Think Financial. The application process is very quick and easy, and the check is sent directly to you so you can use the money for whatever you want. The limits are much higher with private student loans, up to $40,000 per year. You can find out more information about a Think loan at http://www.thinkfinancial.com . Good Luck.
Reply:your school loans have a lower interest rate and it is deferred until after you are done with school. you may not be able to handle a car note right now. don't buy a brand new car. get something that is decent and dependable at least until after you are done w/your studies
Reply:You can't buy a car with a student loan. Student loans are put on 10 year payment plans. Do you really want to be paying on that car long after it's dead 12 years from now?

Besides, the school doesn't disperse the money to you all at once, you get half in the fall and half in the spring.... not all at once. Better get a car loan to buy a car.
