Why do students get upset when a teacher uses profanity words at them when the student uses it first?

When I'm in class doing the work some students seem may not agree with the teacher on certain occasions so the student tends to loose patients and gets upset and starts to cusre at the teacher. The teacher said, nothing at first but then he got tired of it and started to reply back in a profanity way towards the student. So now the student got even more upset and now wants to report the teacher to the principal.

Why do students get upset when a teacher uses profanity words at them when the student uses it first?
The students needs to be disciplined, perhaps sent out of class or given a talking to privately or with the principal's or with a senior faculty member's help. But it is not acceptable for the instructor to curse back at the student. Seems to me the instructor needs more training to be patient and to deal with problem situations to have more control over the class.
Reply:The teacher is a sort of mentor, or moral authority. H grew up to see curseing as a form of rebellion like we all did. Now he uses the profanities as an insult knowing what he was doing was wrong. The student is there to learn and be educated, and so far he has been educated that it is wrong to use those words and that all authorative people have oppressed the desire to do the same to help the young boy do the same. And we all follow by example. It is by far more wrong for the teacher to do it because he is held to a much higher standing and a much more strict form of rules. The teacher deserves to punished as does the young boy.
Reply:they intimidated young men.
Reply:They are told it is wrong so they don't expect to hear that kind of language from a professional, especially one in authority and is in some degree of control over their educations.

Students, especially unhappy or unsuccessful ones, often search for chances to "get back" at a teacher or to show that even adults fail at demonstrating the behavior that is also expected of teens.

In short, pointing out the faults in someone else makes some people feel that less should be expected of them.
Reply:The teacher was wrong to lower himself to their level, but it is really hard for any person to put up with abuse all day and not want to give them a bit of their own medicine. I wish the teacher would go to that boy and explain himself and apologize. It might make the boy realize that that kind of behavior is NEVER acceptable, any time, anywhere, from anybody.

Some kids come from homes where their parents let off steam that way and it's just part of their training. They will have a tough time in life, because it will affect their relationships and job.
Reply:Well, yeah, the kid is a prick; but teacher in the one who is on the job and should stay professional. There are other ways of dealing with them, send him out or something, detention.
