Where should a cosmetology student go to file a complaint agaist the school they are attending?

Michigan law states that a student shall not exceed 7 hours per day in school. The school that I attend usually has the student "work" 7.5 - 8 hours, but only records 7 to submit to the state. Instead of taking actual time of the students, they make up their own time by automatically deducting one hour per day regardless if they allowed that student a total of an hour break that day. Also, if a student comes to school 15-30 minutes late and only takes a 30 min break to still get credit for 7 hours time, the school doesn't allow them that 7 hours time. They state that it's punishment for being late. Therefore, not only does the student get docked the time they were late, but the school deducts another hour on top of it. Even though the student was in school for 7 hours, the school only documents 6.5.

The school benifits from this due to charging students $10/per hour over contract.

Here is the website about the Michigan Board of Cosmetology, which licenses Schools of Cosmetology:

By clicking a link at the bottom of the web page, I located Michigan's consumer protection page, which describes how you can make a complaint against a license holder (i.e. the school). Here's that page:

Hope this helps!
Reply:The board of cosmetology can direct you to whom you need to make a complaint. Google search to get the info.
Reply:Contact the trade college accreditation association in your state.

They will help you.
Reply:Wow! I am almost positive that you can call the schools accreditation board for the state of Michigan. The school provides you with this information in your handbook usually, that is if the school follows proper techniques. If that doesn't fix it then go to the higher level board of education. They have to credit you hour for hour, trust me, I dealt with a technical school myself and the only way you lost your additional hours are if you missed class or if there was a certain amount of community service hours needed to graduate.

GOOD LUCK!
Reply:FBI?im not sure
Reply:I'm not familiar with Michigan Cosmetology school law, but based on what you have here, the board that certifies cosmetologists and cosmetology schools would be a good place to start. Even if they don't accept the complaints, they would at least know who you can complain to.
Reply:Complain to the regulatory board.
