You are getting bad advice from your first two respondents. You cannot just haphazardly switch from he/she to they to a student. You need consistency in the paragraph. The first two who answered you have no idea at all of what they are talking about.

Cow!!
Reply:This is how my eng prof would have us do it. You could use he or she, but then make sure that your pronous usage stays the same throughout the written work. Do not alternate between a student and the student. "A student" implies any student. "The student" is specific towards one in particular. Prof loves to mark us for that type of error! Good luck.

Warren, so glad you said that! I was just about to mention don't take advice from posters that write one huge runon mess.
Reply:YEAH ya can do that it would make what ever youre doing better and your teacher or what ever wont call you up and make you redo it
Reply:Warren and Teresa are correct and he/she is acceptable when you use "a student". You can also rework your sentences to avoid the problem like the example below.

You just have to think of different ways of relaying your message.

First, he/she should make sure to confirm all details of the interview well before the scheduled date. This should be done again a day before the interview to make sure no changes or mistakes have been made in the location or time; this is the time to get specific address information such as a particular building or office number.

Another important detail is getting and remembering the name of the human resources director or person conducting the interview.
Reply:yeah, just alternate between 'the student' and he/she or they. For example:
