Student move to US?

I am a 17 years senior high school student in Norway and maybe want to move to US. I wonder how the school would be for a student like me would look like? I know I need to put effort to learn but how will it be for a middle pluss student?

Student move to US?
At 17, you would likely be placed in the 11th grade or in the 12th grade. American schools are different than most European schools. American children start school at 4 or 5, in kindergarten. They enter 1st grade at age 6. Schools are generally, but not always, divided into elementary schools which have children from kindergarten through 5th grade, about 10 years old. 6th grade is the first year in "middle school." which includes grades 6th, 7th and 8th. High school begins with the freshman year, 9th grade. The sophomore year is 10th grade. The junior year is 11th grade. The senior year is 12th grade. Our high school Seniors "graduate from high school" in June. Generally speaking the new grads are capable of going to work at McDonald's. They have no vocational skills, but they are often qualified to go to college where they will hopefully learn enough to find a suitable job.

Okay, where does that leave you? My guess is that you will be way ahead of US students in the sciences, most history requirements and probably in a few other areas. You will have to take required US history and government classes and you will have to pass a couple "English as a 2nd Language" classes which introduce you to the vaguery of the English language. I think you will fit right in. If you come to Wisconsin, in the midwestern portion of the US, north of Chicago, you will find many Norwegeon speaking people who are 3rd and 4th generation Americans. Actually, you may not be able to speak to them... A university from Oslo sends there linguistic students over here to study the archaic forms of Norwegeon, spoken in the middle 1800's when these folks settled Wisconsin.

We love Norwegeons here in Wisconsin. You'll be right at home.
