What percentage of teacher/student affairs tend to be male teacher/female student and vice versa?

I was chatting to a friend of mine online and, inspired by an episode of Buffy, we started talking about student/teacher relationships. He thinks that female teacher/male student is more common, thereby making them less shocking. (There was also a feminist reason, but we won't go into that.) I believe that male teacher/female student is more common and gets more press coverage, and the media adds more stigma through this coverage. But who's right?

So: what percentage of teacher/student affairs are male teacher/female student and what percentage are female teacher/male student? And, while we're on the topic, what percentage are male teacher/male student or female teacher/female student?

What percentage of teacher/student affairs tend to be male teacher/female student and vice versa?
Actually, I would disagree with both... trust me when I say male teachers (especially those in their 20's) involved with female students is MUCH more common. And provided that the female is over the age of 16, which is the age of consent in the majority of states, it isn't seen as that abnormal or perverted (except by the juvenial minds on this site). That is why the media focuses on the female students. Think about it, I can name two infamous ex-teachers (lafave and mary kay latourno--granted the latter is misspelled) right off the top of my head..but try to think of one male teacher that isn't from your state. Unfortunately there aren't statistics done, since the nature of the relationships are illegal..however, the associated press published an article in Oct. estimating that 1 out of every 5 students in the US has had a sexual relationship with a teacher..but they're including everything from mere conversation to intercourse. In England, where student/teacher relationships were JUST outlawed in 2003 (apparently all of a sudden it has become morally wrong), Pat Sikes, a professor of education, who incidently married the man she met when she was 14--he was her 22 year old history teacher, estimates that 1,500 relationships per year in England begin. Let me end it on this..young male teachers with older female students, though not the majority of relationships, is not as rare as most people believe. Perhaps it is because women do in fact mature faster than guys. OR we can instead prescribe to the general public's belief that teachers have this mystical, magical power of persuasion, and the poor teenagers who spend their weekends drinking and smoking marijuana, have no ability to decide for themselves.
Reply:I should imagine female teacher/male student is more common, as people don't show too much concern over it. Whereas, if a male teacher gets involved with a female student the public start screaming for him to be hung, drawn and quartered.

Another example of modern unfairness.
Reply:all of teh female lecturer in uni are too old
