Can we switch student visa to dependant visa in the UK ?

Currently, my girlfriend and I are both students in the UK, we both are oversea students. After graduation, I wish to continue my education in Feb 2007. But my current student visa expires at the end of Nov 2006. I wish to stay until Feb in the UK. One for my graduation ceremony, and also have a rest. My girlfriend wishes to stay with me. So far, there are three questions about my student visa and my girlfriend’s dependant visa (switch from her student visa).





1. In my circumstance, Can I apply for both my graduation extension and second master student visa together if I post the application documents in Nov 2006?





2. In respect of my girlfriend, we have lived together for more than one year in the UK but without marriage. Recently, we arrange to apply to get marry in mid of Sept. After that, she wishes to switch her student visa to dependant visa in the UK and apply on the same student application form with me. Is our short period marriage circumstance a barrier for our visa? Or are there any documents required to support our situation?








3. Does she need to return our country to apply for dependant visa or she could switch her student visa into dependant visa in the UK?





We have done some researches for rules of dependant visa. But no straightforward answer especially for whether student visa switching to dependant visa need to apply in own counrtry or could be done in the UK.





I am looking for some suggestion from experienced people or anyone who has a clear answer in mind.

Can we switch student visa to dependant visa in the UK ?
Yes you can. If you marry someone, or have a child, then this person can stay as a dependants visa.


If your currently here in the UK as a student and you get married, then as long as either you or your wife is still a full time student, then you can switch to a dependant visa.





This is at the discretion of the immigration officer or home office. In most cases, you are allowed.

Reply:ok well first, if ur visa expires in Nov 06 and ur course finishes in feb 07. Then u can get ur student visa extended.


If u want to stay in the UK then i suggest that u go out %26amp; look for a job now in the meanwhile. Once u get confirmation of getting a job, and ur visa is there u could possibly stay over for longer. Just go apply for a working permit, that is if ur company u are working at sponsor you.





But getting married in this country wont help your application as you are considered foreigners. Once you've been in this country for 5 years running, then you can apply for a British Passport.
Reply:You should first check out the Immigraton website and you should get the information you require. But be careful. Why not apply for the new university now and get the letter of acceptance etc then with this new letter couple with your results from your last university and bank statements etc. I see no reason why you should not get acceptance. As long as one of you have a student visa then your partner get the dependent visa - just by applying.





UK immigration believes that you want to stay in their country so play the game. if you have 10 years of school without spending more than a few months abroad, then you can apply for permanent stay. So 10 years in their country and you become a legal resident.
